Business Unit

Gas

Our proven expertise in gas plants was primarily demonstrated in Asian markets such as Thailand, Vietnam and India. While we continue to have success in Asia, such as the 2010 successful completion of two Thailand gas separation facilities with the world’s largest capacity at 800 MMSCFD each, we have strengthened our presence in other continents in the world. We were the first Korean contractor to be awarded a lump-sum turn-key LNG terminal project, which we received from CFE of Mexico in 2008. More recently in 2010, we were awarded the Shah gas field #4 plant project in the UAE and was selected to be the interface manager of the entire 10 package complex. These achievements demonstrate international recognition of Samsung Engineering’s project management capabilities.

Hydrocarbon Ppstream

Samsung Engineering established the Hydrocarbon Upstream Business Unit in 2010 to focus on increasing its business in the hydrocarbon upstream industry. After receiving the LNG terminal project in Mexico and the gas and oil separation plant in Malaysia by PETRONAS in 2010, we are making further steps to strengthen our position in this business area and strategizing our entrance into other sectors of this field. Samsung Engineering plans to broaden its portfolio in GOSP, FPSO/FLNG, subsea pipeline and oil sand sectors by 2012 and take on FEED and O&M operations in the semi-submersible, compliant tower, tension leg platform and LNG sectors by 2015. By aggressively recruiting specialists and making the most of our hydrocarbon experience and resources, Samsung Engineering is poised to become a leading player for the hydrocarbon upstream industry in the coming years.

Water Treatment / Environmental

Since the 1970s, Samsung Engineering has top tier engineering capabilities in constructing environmental facilities such as plants for water treatment, waste disposal, and sludge treatment, as well as operating them across the nation. Especially, the Yongin sewage treatment center, known as Respia, was awarded the IWA Project Innovation Award in 2008 for its creative idea of installing the sewage facilities underground while building cultural and sports facilities above. In addition to this, the company is building its reputation as an all-round service provider by offering operation services for the largest integrated sewage treatment center in Korea. Samsung Engineering is making triumphant strides in the overseas market as well such as the ICAD Industrial Wastewater Treatment Plant in Abu Dhabi. Our company plans to apply the capabilities and expertise it has accumulated in executing EPC projects to PPP projects in an effort to provide a broader range of services to our clients.
