The modular and highly standardized propulsion control system from SCHOTTEL reliably transmits the control instructions of the ship`s crew to the propulsion unit. Every propulsion type as well as auxiliary units, clutches, gearboxes and motors are controlled. Analogue, digital and serial interfaces are available to enable seamless and secure communication with peripheral systems on board. All elements of the system from the sensors and actuators to the switch cabinets, the underlying software and the control desk components are developed, designed and manufactured by SCHOTTEL.

With more than 15,000 units installed, the SCHOTTEL RudderPropeller has become the leading propulsion system for vessels with low to medium speeds.

Efficient, low cavitation, streamlined – the SCHOTTEL TwinPropeller is the ideal propulsion solution for vessels or applications with limited installation space, draught or propeller clearance. Based on the principle of the proven SRP, the STP ensures combined thrust and 360-degree manoeuvring power with its two co-rotating propellers. Distributing the load over two propellers boosts the propulsion system’s efficiency and noise and vibration levels underwater and on board are reduced to a minimum.

Powerful, reliable, flexible – the SCHOTTEL Retractable RudderPropeller is the retractable version of the proven SCHOTTEL RudderPropeller. When retracted, the SRP-R functions as a fully 360-degree steerable propulsion unit. It combines maximum manoeuvrability, high propulsion power and precise dynamic positioning. The retractable thruster can also be equipped with an eight degrees inclined propeller shaft. This reduces the interactions between the propulsion units as well as between the units and the hull, resulting in even more propulsion efficiency.

Compact, quiet, efficient – the SCHOTTEL PumpJet has stood the test of time as a reliable take-home system as well as manoeuvring and main propulsion system in all types of vessels where maximum manoeuvring performance, space-saving installation and utmost comfort are paramount. As a modern shallow-water propulsion unit, the SPJ provides full thrust in all directions even at minimum immersion depths. The flush installation along the vessel’s hull provides optimal protection against damage in the event of ground contact and is supplemented by an inlet grid.

Robust, durable, user friendly – the SCHOTTEL TransverseThruster improves manoeuvring performance in vessels of all types and sizes. The STT’s area of operation ranges from short docking and casting off in ports with only a few operating hours per year to continuous operation and the highest loads in demanding offshore applications with dynamic positioning.

Silent, compact, environmentally friendly – the SCHOTTEL RimThruster combines great drive system power with maximum comfort on board. As a purely electric propulsion system, i.e. without resonance-generating mechanical components, it is characterized by minimum noise and vibration levels. This makes it ideally suited for use in passenger shipping. Thanks to its special design, the compact SRT also boasts a wide range of installation options, enabling large space gains in a vessel.
