Thermal Processes- Evaporation Technology

Schulz - Model FFVE - Falling Film Evaporator

Falling film evaporators are recommended for the use in the industries of pulp & paper, food processing, beverage, pharmaceutical and in the chemical industries. In this evaporator system, the liquid in the tube evaporates to an uninterrupted liquid film. Of importance is that the coherent falling liquid film does not break. The falling film evaporator systems that we offer are ideal in combination with vapor recompression systems. A minimal product-side pressure drop, heating surfaces >500m², a compact design, minimal operating volume, none to very low super heat, a short residence time and an excellent heat transfer characterize our falling film evaporator systems.

Mulcom - Model FFVE - Multi Compartment Falling Film Evaporator

The MULCOM FFVE is a multi-stage falling film evaporator system in one apparatus, developed and patented in our own R&D department. A new type of falling-film evaporator which is tube and jacket side, divided into several chambers. These are not connected to each other and can be operated at different independend pressure levels. The chambers can also be divided into several passes. Through these chambers, several "conventional" shell and tube heat exchangers are combined in one apparatus.

Thermal Processes- Liquid-Liquid Extraction

Schulz - Agitated Extraction Columns

As no other type, the agitated extraction column is universally suitable for practical all kind of extracting applications. Limiting condition is a minimal density difference of 0,05 kg/m3 between both phases and a not to strong tendency to form a stable emulsion, in order to allow a smooth agitation.

Thermal Processes- Crystallisation

Schulz - Model CRIS 400 S - Evaporation Crystallisation Plant

For the crystallisation of metal fluorides, a system was developed that makes it possible to regenerate the resulting pickling baths. This is an evaporation crystallization process. Vapour-volatile substances such as nitric acid, hydrofluoric acid and water are distilled. At the same time metal crystals are formed, which are discharged via a suitable device and separated at a separate stage of the liquid. In order to implement the process in this way and with particularly high-quality materials, this is done in a vacuum.
The systems are adapted to local conditions. Additional pre-concentration stages can be integrated for larger volume flows.

Thermal Processes- Drying Technology

Schulz - Thin Film Dryer (TFD)

Continuous drying in a thin film dryer usually delivers a powdery product which seems to be absolutely dry, but actually still contains residual moisture in the range of a few percent. The pendulum wiper arms of the rotor work without wall contact at a gap of approx. 0.5mm. The system can be operated at ambient pressure and under vacuum. However, the solids discharge by a sluice is costly

Systems- Pickling Bath Regeneration

Schulz - Pickling Bath Regeneration System

The crystallisation process presented here was developed by Schulz+Partner in collaboration with Cesus/Areva (France). It is used for pickling baths to recover acids and separate metals.

Systems- Acid Regeneration

Schulz - Aluminium Bright Plating Bath

The recovery of the aluminium bright plating bath by means of a forced circulation evaporator system at ALBEA in Offenburg is also based on the evaporation/crystallisation principle.
