Activated Carbon
Silcarbon - Powder Activated Carbon
Powdered activated carbon is used in the purification of liquids in the chemical, pharmaceutical and food industries, as well as in water treatment. Powdered activated carbon is available in two fundamentally different types: Silcarbon TH90, fine-porous material. Silcarbon CW20, open-pore material, which is often used for the removal of large molecules (e.g., organic colors in food).
Silcarbon - Fine and Medium-Grained Granular Activated Carbon
Fine and medium-grained granular activated carbons are mainly used for water treatment. A high-quality granular activated carbon should of course have the longest possible service life. This is guaranteed by an activated carbon with high activity and high density.
Silcarbon - Pelletized Activated Carbon
Air cleaning: In many industrial processes, toxic gaseous pollutants are emitted. Generally, these substances should not be released. Most of the toxic pollutants in the exhaust air are solvents, which are required for the production of consumer goods. For the removal and separation of these solvents (mostly hydrocarbons, and chlorinated hydrocarbons), the use of activated charcoal has been proven. Depending on the initial concentration of the pollutant one-way activated carbons are used or activated carbons are applied, that can be regenerated in solvent recovery plants.
Silcarbon - Impregnated Activated Carbon
Impregnated activated carbons are mainly used for air cleaning. Standard activated carbons excellently adsorb volatile hydrocarbons. In case toxic substances such as hydrogen sulfide, mercaptane and ammonia are present, a specially impregnated activated carbon is required. The impregnation in combination with the carbon surface removes these substances by neutralizing or reacting with them and store them onto the inner surface of the carbon. Only silver impregnated activated carbons are used in water treatment. The silver is bacteriogen.
Desiccant Silica Gel
Silcarbon - Highly Porous Desiccant Silica Gel
Silica gel is synthetically produced highly porous amorphous silica, in various possible forms. Silica gel is highly porous and has a very large internal surface area of up to 800 m2/g. Silica gel is produced industrially and can be used in many ways. Silica gel can adsorb many substances. Since silica gel is very hygroscopic, it is also very often used as a desiccant. Generally, the pore volume of silica is greater than 0.2 ml / g and the internal surface area is greater than 400 m2 / g. The pore sizes vary from 1 nm to several hundred nm (nm = Nanometer, 1 nm = 10-9 m).
Silcarbon - Silica Gel Products
Silica gel can be differentiated based on: Form, Size, Pore structure or Chemical composition. Silica gel forms: granular: Silcarbon SGG, beads: Silcarbon SGR. Silica gel sizes: Silica gel can be produced in various sizes in powder form, granular or spherical. Standard sizes are 1-3 mm, 2-5 mm, 3-6 mm, 4-8 mm and 5-11 mm.Silcarbon - Silica Gel with Indicator
If a color indicator is added to silica gel the color change of the silica gel shows how much water has been adsorbed by the silica gel. Thus for example, in case of a silica gel with orange indicator the color changes from orange to green with increasing water uptake. Therefore it can be easily identified whether the silica gel has reached its maximum adsorption capacity (dark green) and must be replaced or if possible regenerated. Silcarbon silica gels do not contain cobalt and are therefore not precancerous.
Silcarbon - Reusable Desiccant Silica Gel
Silica gel can be regenerated at temperatures of 100- 120 degrees Celsius where the adsorbed water is desorbed. This process can be repeated several times. If after repeated regeneration the adsorption capacity is insufficient then the silica gel must be replaced.
Silcarbon - Packaging Silica Gel
Silica gel of Silcarbon is packaged in accordance with customer requirements. Our standard packings are: PP bags, 25 kgs net each, Steel drums, 125 kgs net each, Big bags, 750 kgs net each. Each packing type contains an inner plastic (polyethylene) bag to protect the product against moisture. Other packing units are available upon request.
