The people who enter data are typically only occasional computer users and they just want to get the job done quickly without the need to know much about software or how to manually get to their Data Entry Form. SERAM addresses this need by providing a simple list of links to their pending tasks. This list requires no manual mainenance because it uses the current date, the permissions of the logged on user, and the state of the data in the system to generate the data entry tasks. Therefore, after logging on, the Data Recorder sees right away what tasks are pending, and they`re just one click away...

Data Entry is performed on straightforward, questionnaire-like forms. In order to clearly arrange the form, the single value rows are by default shown in a collapsed summary style. When the focus is moved to a value row, it expands to show all the information of this particular value, including its description, a comment field and other attributes of this value.  When the next value row is activated, it expands to the full form and the previously active value row collapses into its compact form. This allows to have many indicators in the questionnaire without cluttering the screen.

It`s essential for verifiers and analysts to know how far the data collection and verification progress is at any given time. Therefore, similar to the Pending Data Entry task list on the dashboard, they receive an overview of all the structures which they are overseeing right after login on the dashboard. Just like everywhere in the application, the Data Status Controlling applies a color code of the least status in the selected item. The green bar in the following screenshot however is the currently selected row.

Very quickly, the raw amount of data collected is too vast to be used in one piece. For instance, some 5 years with 20 sites and monthly data entry of 100 indicators you`d have ten thousand raw data points and even more consolidated and computed ones on top of that. In fact, some companies using SERAM have collected several million of raw data points and compute many more figures out of these.

SERAM uses a claims-based authentication system for associating data received from trusted logon providers to users.

Structures, such as organization entities, are at the core of any data collection and consolidation process. SERAM has a distinct approach at handling structures.

Changes in the organization can lead to significant changes of KPIs. SERAM allows to selectively consolidate data, therefore building what-if scenarios.

SERAM builds on reporting periods of a year for all data and configuration. Each reporting period can of course contain smaller time-spans. Also, the reporting period does not have to start on January, it can start on the first of any month, both forward and backward of the period year. So if you need to report on the basis of a Hydrological Year starting in the preceding October (e.g. 1.1.2018 => 4th month of the Hydrological Year 2018), then SERAM has you covered. Or if you are in the UK and your Fiscal Year starts in April, so be it. And if you happen to be in Australia and your Fiscal Year starts in the preceding July, no problem as well.
