The Floating Weir Skimmer (FWS) is a simple well-proven industrial oil skimmer or surface decanter that works with any pump that can pull suction. The FWS is automatically self adjusting and flow controlled, meaning that by controlling your pump’s flow rate, you can adjust the skim or cut coming off the surface, from 1/8" to over 1-1/4" automatically. The FWS never needs manual adjustment- EVER !

At SkimOil we have developed some better methods and equipment for decanting  ash ponds.  Our floating weir skimmers (FWS) originally designed as surface oil skimmers, simply drain an area from the top down and remove whatever is flowable on/from the waters surface.  In the ash ponds we found that the FWS with their laminar flow-do a great job of removing surface water without stirring up all the stuff under the water surface.

These floating drum skimmers (FDS) float on the surface, and sealed flotation makes it unsinkable. The drums are motor driven (by air or hydraulics) and turn slowly attracting the oil to its surface and rotating around to the wiper blade which scrapes the floating oil off and it runs into the sump area, where it is picked up by pump suction and transferred to storage. The FDS is known to be the most effective oil skimmer in the world!

The steel mill oil skimming applications are the toughest in the world. The equipment has to be rugged and simple enough to run without any attention or maintenance. There is simply not enough manpower to stay on top of it. It will usually be ignored until it breaks! We have developed specialty skimmers, hardened specifically for the steel industry! Simple and effective skimmers. That’s where we come in! We have a goodly amount of experience and equipment in the steel industry. We know how to match the application to the correct and appropriate technology, which often means: "We’ve already screwed that one up."

Automatic smart oil skimmer system is a self contained skimmer purposely built for specific jobs. Originally designed for hydro dams---to go down into very deep wells and automatically skim and separate oil from water and pump the oil up to the surface ---automatically. Our standard well proven Floating Weir Skimmer (FWS) can be modified and adapted with grinder pumps that can grind up small soft stuff like leaves, weeds, sticks, algae that are often present in a spill situation in a lake or river or pond or? It`s a regular surface skimmer with very sharp teeth but at the end of the day ike all of our floating weir skimmers, it`s a surface skimmer designed to remove whatever is flowable on the surface of the water.

Our Floating Weir Skimmer (FWS) is often used to skim or remove floating stuff or junk or scraps from the waters surface. The FWS acts like a waterfall and anything floating and flowable on the surface gets caught in the current going across the weir or waterfall.  The current or flow is created by your pump removing the fluid (water or oil or?) from the skimmers built in sump.

Solids Excluding Doors: Eliminates solids from entering the decanter head during the fill and aeration cycles.
