Sewer Meters monitor sewage level and flow within the sewers. Benefits gained by sewer monitoring include:
(1) Detection of overflow conditions before overflow occurs thereby preventing hazardous environmental events.
(2) Detection of blocked sewer pipes, allowing quick and focused maintenance thereby reducing maintenance costs.
(3)Detection of over-used and under-used pipes for long term municipal planning.
(4) Monitoring of sewage flow in sensitive sites such as flow to the river or sea.
(5) Estimation of sewage flow for costing purposes and especially for pricing the use of public infrastructure by industrial plants.
The sewer meter solution consists of two main components:
(1) The fielded component includes GaugerGSM, an ultrasonic non-contact level sensor integrated with GSM cellular transmitter. The fielded component also includes accessories such as external battery pack.
(2) A web-based monitoring application for presenting data from all sewer sites.
Monitoring Sewage Flow is a critical tool for local governments, for water and waste-water utilities and for industrial plants. Sewage monitoring can prevent environmental disasters such as sewage overflow within populated neighborhoods or excessive waste flow into local lakes, rivers or sea. Sewage monitoring is also an important tool for short term and long term planning of the sewers infrastructure. Short term refers to just-in-time and cost effective maintenance. For example, sending the technical team to the correct manhole at the correct time to clean and eliminate obstructions. Long term planning refers to designing the correct pipe diameters and correct slopes to contain sewage from new new buildings and plants. Sewage monitoring is a tool for billing plants who produce sewage above their water intake and a tool for plants which utilize water to request lower utility bills. Solid Applied Technologies provides a complete and tested solution for Sewer Monitoring.
SUMMARY
Fielded water level measurement stations, based on GaugerGSM sensor, report real time stream levels and flow. Stations are located across a stream-rich region of the upper Galilee feeding the Jordan river in the northern part of Israel. The region is a popular tourist destination due to its biblical origins, rich flora and fauna. Field data is available over the Internet to authorized engineers, site supervisors and Government officials. remote monitoring station - close up
THE NEED
The water basin in the Upper Galilee maintains a delicate balance between recharges, net precipitation, domestic and irrigation consumption, and water tourism (canoeing). Local and state officials are tasked to study the tradeoffs, manage risks and take actions to keep the balance. Monitoring stations are essential for data collection. remote monitoring station - overall
