DIN 1.2316 plastic mold steel has 17% chromium element, its corrosion resistance and polishing performance are great, pre-hardening hardness is 34 – 40 HRC. 23616 steel material has great mechanical properties, so it is widely used in the plastic mould industry.

DIN 1.2714 mold steel was made at the base of DIN 1.2344 mould steel. So it has the advantages of 2344 steel and has better properties. It has good toughness and malleability. And it also is added the chromium to improve the toughness and fatigue resistance of the 2714 steel material. The Cr content of it is quite high, so it has great hardenability. And air cooling in the time of quenching will get the martensite structure. But its carbon content is on the medium level to make sure to get good hardness after the quenching and tempering. Meanwhile, 1.2714 steel will get good thermostability and high impact toughness. It will get secondary hardening in the high-temperature tempering, then its wearing resistance, corrosion resistance and thermal fatigue resistance will get improve. So 2714 steel material has good properties after quenching and tempering. But if the surface of steel gets a carbon-denuded layer, it will damage the thermal fatigue resistance.

20MnCr5 is structural alloy steel with great strength, toughness and hardenability. After heat treatment, 20MnCr5 material properties are better than 20Cr. Negligible quenching deformation, good low-temperature toughness. The machinability is good, but the welding property not as well. 20MnCr5(1.7147) steel material usually is used at the state that after hardening and tempering or carburizing and quenching.

AISI S7 tool steel be made of chromium-molybdenum alloy to satisfy the needs of high impact toughness. The chemical composition of Cr is quite high. So it has good tempering resistance, high-temperature oxidation, wire-electrode cutting property and impact toughness. After annealing softening treatment, the rolling steel bar must take the process of heating before the use. Because of the higher toughness and high-temperature oxidation, S7 steel material is widely used in the plastic mold, cold work and hot work tools that working in the high temperature and impact condition.

1.2312 steel material is a great plastic mold steel in the industry. 1.2312 (40CrMnMoS8-6) belongs to the stand of alloy tool steel of DIN. And many people also call it as 2312 steel. It’s polishing property and machinability are good. And the hardness of everywhere is average with high wear resistance. DIN 1.2312 steel material usually be used in the blowing mould, structural parts, forming tools, injection mold due to the good hardness, high-temperature strength and mechanical property.

DC53 steel material is made at the base of SKD11 steel, it is a new type of cold work mold steel. DC53 steel has overcome the disadvantages of SKD11 high-temperature tempering and toughness not enough, it will replace the applications of SKD11 in the common and precision mold field. The toughness of DC53 is double SKD11. DC53 toughness is on the top of the cold work mold steel. The things of cracking are rarely happen for the tools that made of DC53 material, it raises the service life dramatically. After high-temperature tempering, the residual stress of Wire EDM will get lower. So the cracking and deformation get control for the big size mold and high precision requirement mold Wire EDM. Its heat treatment hardness is also higher than SKD11, high-temperature(520-530℃) tempering can make the hardness up to 62-63HRC. Also, the strength and wear resistance of DC53 are better than SKD11 steel.

NAK80 steel material is a prehardening plastic mold steel. Out of the factory, the hardness can be reached 37-43 HRC. Without S, it has good mirror polish and EDM. After the production of special smelting, it will get high cleanness and stable performance. NAK80 steel has great polishing property, it no needs heat treatment. Perfect machinability and lower surface roughness, the hardness is balance in anywhere. After the processing of spheroidizzing annealing, its machinability will be better. Add the elements of Vanadium and Molybdenum in a special way, the wear resistance is up to the next level. And the toughness also is good, with the great mechanical properties, you do not need to worry about the problem of fracture.

42CrMo Steel Material is high strength steel. It has great toughness, strength and hardenability. After quenching and tempering treatment, it will get better fatigue limit and shock resistance ability. It usually is used without obvious temper embrittlement after the quenching and tempering treatment. And its low-temperature impact toughness is good. So 42CrMo steel material round bar or sheet was widely used in the big or medium type plastic mold with certain strength and toughness. The properties of 42CrMo are close to the 35CrMo. But the content of carbon and chromium are higher than 35CrMo, so the strength and hardenability are better than 35CrMo material.

AISI 1045 steel is high-quality medium-carbon steel with high strength. It also can be called JIS S45C and DIN C45 steel. It is usually used in normalized condition because of its bad hardenability. It needs to be quenching and tempering treatment to get higher mechanical performance. It is used to manufacture machine parts with high strength requirements.
