Ozone and advanced oxidation processes can selectively remove pollutants from industrial wastewater and process water, e.g. TOC, COD, BOD, cyanide, phenol, color among many other compounds. This can include discharge to surface waters or to POTW (referred to as pretreatment). Ozone can also be used to keeps wastewater sumps clean and odor free.

Ozone and ozone-based advanced oxidation processes (AOP) can be used for groundwater remediation. It can be applied via in-situ chemical oxidation (ISCO) methods or by pump and treat methods. Ozone-based technologies have been used successfully to treat various DCE, TCE, 1,4 Dioxane, BTEX and other common groundwater contaminants.
