Fat splitting is a process to produce fatty acid & glycerine from fats & vegetable oil. The Splitting or hydrolysis reaction is carried out in order to obtain triglycerides the corresponding crude fatty acids and crude glycerol dissolved in the excess water.

Fatty acids from splitting towers contain several impurities, such as, Odour bodies, Unsaponifiable matter, Aldehydes, Water, High boiling components- un-splitted glycerides, Phosphatides, etc. These impurities are removed by adequate distillation in order to obtain a pure product with light colour and good stability.

Esterification is a process to produce fatty acid ester, it can be monoglycerides, diglyceride & triglyceride. Is the process in which fatty acids react with Glycerin under temperature conditions and in the presence of vacuum, with the help of sparging steam. Further this fatty acid in vapourform is condensed & recovered in liquid form by the vapour scrubbing system.
