Fixed Fire Protection Equipment Services

The true cost of a fire to a business cannot be measured easily or ever fully recovered. Loss of life, customer disruption, health and safety intervention, criminal and insurance investigations and insurance premium escalation are just a few of the possible risks associated with inadequate fire protection. SPP Pumps, through the maintenance and servicing of fire protection equipment, reduce this risk. As the world leader in the manufacture of Listed and Approved fire pump packages, SPP is the first choice for the service and maintenance of your fire protection pump sets.

SPP Pumps Field Service

SPP Pumps operate a network of strategically based service engineers who are dedicated to providing a rapid response to customer needs. SPP engineers are the best in the business at handling a variety of tasks ranging from routine maintenance and emergency breakdowns, through to full installation and commissioning of fire pump packages, regardless of make or model.

Offshore Field Services

SPP Field Service Engineers travel the work in the support of SPP engineered products. Suitably qualified in all Health & Safety aspects with extensive experience working on both land based projects and offshore located oil & gas installations. Be it installing, commissioning, testing or remedial tasks, SPP engineers can be mobilized within a few hours.

Valve Repair & Refurbishment Services

Over the years, SPP has acquired an unrivalled reputation in the specialised field of valve repair and refurbishment. Today, they are able to offer a comprehensive range of services covering all types, sizes and makes of valves. SPP ensure that your valves are overhauled to the highest possible standards within required time scales and with the minimum customer down time.

Accredited Pump System Assessment to ASME EA2 Services

It is essential to take a view of the complete pump system. As detailed in ASME EA2 the fundamental starting point of any assessment is to understand the requirements of the system, what is the function of the system and what is the output performance? Benefit can be gained from performance testing of pump sets but unless the complete system is considered partial or inappropriate conclusions can be reached resulting in costly exercises that do not offer the best returns in energy saving and resulting Co2e reduction. Recirculation through control valves and non-return valves can often be overlooked. Subsequent pump overhaul or upgrade can actually increase the system losses. Oversized pumps can sometimes be improved by using variable speed drives (VSD) but an investigation is required into the system characteristics to determine how suitable this option may be. In high static head conditions VSD may not be appropriate.

Pump Performance Testing Services

On site pump performance testing can often provide valuable information regarding the actual point that the pump is operating at on its Q.H. Curve (head v flow). Pumps are normally tested by the OEM against a client issued specification. This specification is often modelled or calculated rather than being an actual measurement of the installation system curve. On site testing offers an early opportunity of establishing any discrepancies between the specification as issued to the pump OEM and the actual characteristics of the system as constructed. On site fixed installation condition monitoring packages are not always set up to measure actual pump performance rather they tend to concentrate on the machines mechanical condition and deterioration rather than “is the pump operating at B.E.P.” or is it in hydraulic distress? SPP Energy offer on-site performance testing using conventional measuring techniques.

Pump Efficiency Testing Services

On site efficiency testing is offered primarily using thermodynamic test monitors. Power is still measured via a power analyser. Thermodynamic testing offers a more accurate assessment of actual pump performance and is therefore used for detailed pump system assessments where accurate validation of energy savings achieved is often a contractual requirement. This method of testing is, to a certain extent, “intrusive” in that suction and discharge probes are inserted into the flow via ½” BSP gate valve fittings. If these are not available they will be required as a system modification before testing can commence. This technique also provides a means of data collection for trending results. Fixed installation packages are available. Contact us for a quotation.

Pump Mapping Services

SPP Energy offers a range of pre prepared training packages and can tailor specific training programs to suit your requirements.

System Modification Services

Systems can often be modified over time without consideration for the installed pump packages. Pump system assessments may also identify opportunities for system modifications that will provide energy saving benefits and reduce the cost of ownership of the pump systems. Contact us for an assessment.
