Spunstrand Inc. has been manufacturing underslab HVAC ductwork for over forty years in both insulated and non-insulated forms. Insulated and non-insulated ductwork is available in but not limited to standard sizes 2″¯ through 120″¯. Custom sizes, larger and smaller, round or rectangular are also available. Rectangular or square duct systems are not usually designed and laid out for underground use except for vertical boot risers. Boot risers are typically sheet metal that can be made out of fiberglass if extremely high water table or corrosive soil conditions exist.

Capabilities and Variations Spunstrand® Inc. has been manufacturing filament wound fiberglass reinforced plastic duct and piping for over forty years. Variations in resin, glass, liners, wall thickness, and their applications in corrosive air, HVAC, or fluids, are as diverse as the markets we serve. We have made just about every size and shape imaginable and even provided insulated industrial ductwork.

In 1960, our company built the first filament winding machine to produce FRP mine ventilation duct, and started an entirely new industry.  These first non-metalic ducts were a big improvement over the heavier and conductive metal ducts.  Our mine and tunnel ventilation ducts maintain a MSHA approval as a Class 1 rated duct system, and have been used in mining and tunneling applications now for 54 years.  Spunstrand Inc. has a variety of duct configurations available to suit the needs of most any situation our customers may encounter.

Spunstrand Inc. manufactures a wide variety of FRP filament wound media vapor phase scrubbers. The vessels range from passive venting up to 46,000 CFM within a single vessel. Spunstrand® Inc.’s vessel configurations are Single Bed, Split Bed and Vertical Bed Systems both with and without blowers. Special configurations can be manufactured such as the skid mounted and recirculate systems.

Spunstrand Inc. manufactures both Zero-Leak (ZL) and Balancing Dampers (BA) for the corrosive fume handling industry for a variety of environments and applications. These dampers can be used to regulate air flow and/or isolate a particular part of a system. They are constructed of FRP providing a durable corrosion resistant product that can be used for numerous industrial applications such as: semiconductor manufacturing plants, wastewater treatment plants, pharmaceutical facilities, pulp and paper plants, metal plating ships and chemical facilities.

With the 2003 acquisition of an existing FRP Tank manufacturing company, Spunstrand® Inc. added significant large diameter filament winding capability, which enhances our product offering significantly.  Spunstrand® Inc. now has a dedicated facility for manufacturing chemical and water storage tanks, carbon scrubbers and custom FRP products that will serve our primary industrial and municipal customers as well as emerging markets.
