Thank you for your purchase. The Staple Wasp is a safe and effective means to accomplish your erosion control needs. When operated as intended, it will be a great asset to your team’s site production, safety, and worker well-being.

The Staple Wasp Staple Gun was designed to provide a light weight and dependable solution for erosion control blanket installation, landscape fabric, liners and sod laying in sloped areas. The Staple Wasp is constructed of lightweight and durable material, the machined aluminum and hardened steel is designed with the kind of demands required of equipment used daily in the field. There are a few safety considerations that are recommended to the user to provide a safe a productive tool for your team out in the field.

INSTRUCTION FOR USE:
Place the staple carriage on your Staple Wasp Gun in the locked rear position so there is no forward tension. Place a clip of 50 staples on the carriage of the Wasp and manual slide the clip forward inside of the inverted U grooves at the front of the carriage.

Release the tension spring button while holding the carriage handle with the other hand. Do not let the carriage slam forward on the staple clip, as it could break the clip of staples in more than one brick and affect the staple feed towards the end of the clip.

Your Staple Wasp Gun is ready for use. Hold the Wasp so the staple carriage is in front of you, not between your feet. Depress the Wasp Staple handle towards the ground. The inside blade will sheer a single staple off the brick of staples and punch it into the ground with your downward motion. The return spring will bring the Wasp handle back to the beginning position….Repeat…

DO NOT begin punching a second staple in the ground UNTIL you have moved the staple gun to a new position on the blanket. This will prevent jamming.

IN CASE OF A JAM WHILE USING THIS PRODUCT DUE TO ENCOUNTERING A ROCK, ROOT OR OTHER FOREIGN DEBRIS WHILE STAPLING:

Remove existing staples from the staple carriage and place the carriage in the rear locked position.
The Wasp has a removable front plate on the staple chamber located at the bottom front of the gun. This plate has a red latch to release the front plate. If you have a staple in the chamber that is jammed, remove this front plate by pulling the red latch open and remove the staple that is bent or jammed in the chamber. Replace the front plate into its original position. See video below.

MAINTENANCE:

Please keep the gun free of excessive grease or dirt. Use WD-40 (or similar product) to clean your gun. The presence of grease will attract dirt, so just brushing the machine clean of dirt, grass & grime will help maintain its function.
We recommend using Liquid Wrench Silicone spray throughout the day, multiple times a day, to keep your Staple Wasp gun lubed and running properly.
It is a recommended practice to inspect the gun every day after use for loose set screws or nuts. All parts are built to remain tight and functional. Run a 3/16 Allen Wrench over the set screws every week. Cleaner can work these set screws loose over time.

SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS:

Do not staple on or near feet: The Staple Wasp is designed to be carried with the staple carriage positioned away from the operator’s feet, pointed in the direction traveled and being stapled. Do not attempt to place a staple within a foot of your feet while operating, as a miscalculation could cause injury.
Watch fingers at pinch site: When loading a clip of new staples, or when extracting an existing clip from the staple apron, be aware of the tension spring. The tension spring carriage is designed to push staples through the tunnel to be pinned by the blade. Always release the tension on the staple apron by clipping the apron in position at the back of the carriage and always keep fingers out of the pathway of the staple carriage.
Do not operate if not completely assembled: All the parts of the Staple Wasp Gun have a specific and necessary function in the safe and efficient operation. Do not attempt to use the gun until it has been completely assembled. This will apply when replacing a wear part or doing cleaning of the gun.
Wear Safety Glasses: Always wear safety glasses when operating the Staple Wasp. This is a machine that pins blanket to the ground and should be treated with the respect of any mechanical tool used in a construction area.
Beware of underground electrical wiring and irrigation systems: As with any construction or excavation site, the user must be aware of the ground they are working on. Underground electrical wiring and irrigation systems can be contacted with the staple that is being punched into the soil. DO NOT operate this machine in areas that have not been inspected for such underground hazards as described.
For Stapling into ground only: The Staple Wasp is designed to pin material to the ground. DO NOT attempt to use this in any other manner or function other than its intended use. Such actions can lead to injury and harm to the operator and surrounding workers. In Addition, this gun is designed to staple into sod, matting and blanket-fabric. Do not attempt to staple any unapproved material to the ground as this could also lead to injury and harm to the operator and surrounding workers.
Use only approved staple magazines for Wasp staplers: The Staple Wasp was designed to use only Wasp Staples for its operation. Do not try and use any other brands when operating this machine.

WARRANTY OF PARTS:
The Staple Wasp wear parts are available for order at 612-816-7520. Defective parts are warrantied and will be replaced at no charge by contacting Gene Fisher at ECSI/Staple Wasp. This product was designed to be durable and productive in the field, and increase efficiency and production. Please treat with the care of your other equipment, and this product will provide years of dependable use.
