Custom-tailored raw material concepts and system solutions adapted to each particular application are our answer to the manifold demands of sanitaryware production all over the world. We offer customized raw materials (ball clays) that we optimize for all kinds of production processes and casting technologies, offering you the optimal raw material concepts for both high-pressure casting and traditional plaster casting.

Our special clays for the production of roofing tiles stand out for their intensely red firing colour, excellent drying properties and suitability for fast firing. Other important parameters of these special clays include optimized particle size distribution, outstanding shaping characteristics and green strength in combination with a very good surface structure.

Purity and plasticity of the raw materials are essential requirements in the production of electrotechnical porcelain. Thanks to their high Al₂O₃ content and their extraordinarily fine particle size distribution, our highly plastic raw materials are perfectly suited for such products.

For optimal plastic shaping of tiles, Stephan Schmidt Group supplies raw materials in many different firing colours with well-balanced drying and firing characteristics and excellent extrusion properties.

Our broad range of standardised raw material mixtures for the production of wall and floor tiles comprises white-, light- and red-firing raw materials. These products feature, in particular, very good sintering properties, suitability for fast firing and high green strength.

High-quality special clays, predominantly distributed through Müllenbach & Thewald GmbH, are used in the production of engobes, glazes and enamels. This product group is completed by high-quality bonding clays for the abrasives industry. The specific quality tests necessary for these types of products are carried out at our central laboratory in Langendernbach.

We offer „traditional“ red-firing raw materials as well as light, yellow and leather-brown clay mixtures for all firing temperatures and applications in the production of clinkers and facing bricks. This range of products is rounded out by coarse-grained shaly clays for the production of pavers.

We provide optimal raw material concepts for the production of fine stoneware and fine earthenware. Depending on production technology, we subdivide our solutions into raw material mixtures for casting, throwing, pressing and stamping.

To help solve problems encountered in the plastic shaping of large products, we developed specific raw material concepts that excel in terms of very high dry bending strength, outstanding plasticity, high transverse crushing strength of the finished products and minimum effort for subsequent treatment.

Florisol granulated clay is one of the world’s leading clay products for potting soils and substrates. Special types are available for the different application purposes. Florisol^® products are used for improving physical characteristics of substrates, such as water absorption capacity and stability, but also for achieving specific chemical effects in plant nutrition.
