Harsh Environment Fibre Optics

MFM Ruggedised Simplex Connector

The Simplex MFM Fibre Optic range has been specifically designed to operate in Harsh Environments. The rugged, anti-vibration, corrosion resistant design ensures high environmental and optical performance in a variety of applications in the air, on land, and above / below sea. The MFM series connector is designed for either singlemode or multimode applications and offers a range of variants to suit different types of ruggedised cabling.

Consumables - Adhesives

Norland Optical Adhesives

Norland Optical Adhesives are clear, colourless, one part adhesives that contain no solvents. When exposed to ultraviolet light, they gel in seconds and full cure in minutes to give a tough, resilient bond. These adhesives are designed for fast, precision bonding where low strain and optical clarity are required. Norland manufactures a range of different types of optical adhesive for bonding glass, metal, plastic, ceramic and many other materials. These adhesives have long pot life because they only cure when exposed to long wave ultraviolet light. This puts the user in complete control over the cure which simplifies any process that requires critical alignment or exact positioning.

Index Matching Gels

Norland Index Matching Liquid 150 is a low viscosity liquid monomer that can be used as an index matching media for temporary splicing, OTDR testing and other fibre optic applications. This material will not cure and will always remain a liquid. Other index matching silicone fluids and gels can cause adhesion problems because once they come in to contact with a surface, it is very difficult to remove all traces of the material. The Norland IML 150 can be removed with a solvent leaving the fibre end face completely clean.

Equipment - Polishing Machines

Polishing Machine

The Domaille APM-HDC-5400 is the most accurate, technologically advanced polishing machine in the market today. Like all Domaille brand machines, designed with a rigid fixture system that is far superior to floating fixture systems. Specially designed for complex multifibre applications like MPO or MTP, this polisher allows you to program your polishing processes through an easy-to-use PC-based Windows-like full-colour touch screen panel. Once programmed, the panel displays your settings for speed, time, and pressure, and prompts the operator for the film, pad, and lubricant needed for each step of the process. The APM-HDC-5400 also has fully programmable pressure and speed ramp rates for slow starting and stopping the polishing process. Programmable film change counters and a maintenance section are incorporated for alerting operators when to change film or provide service to the machine. If the number of connectors loaded into the polishing fixture is less than the default that has been programmed, the automatic pressure adjustment feature allows the operator to enter the actual number of connectors loaded. The required pressure is then automatically recalculated to ensure that the individual connector force remains constant regardless of the number of connectors assumed in the process definition. The APM-HDC-5400 continues to provide the capability to copy and store processes to a USB. The USB can be used to back-up your defined processes and to copy processes from one machine to another. This not only saves process setup time for each machine, but also ensures consistent process settings.
