The two scanner variations of the type TK7 have identical features. The only difference is that in variation “A” the rotational movement is limited by a mechanical stop inside the housing while the scanner “RL” can rotate in both directions without stopping. This is for checking two tools. These scanners are best suited for tight spaces where a larger scanner may not fit, such as Swiss style machines or multi-spindle heads.

BK Mikro TK8A is a scanner designed mainly for broken tool detection inside the tool changer of machining centers adding little or no additional cycle time. The controller stores up to 512 different tool lengths in memory and is controlled using 24vdc M-Code/Macro I/O combinations, Profibus, Profinet or DeviceNet. The system can check tools whose lengths vary as much as 15 inches from the shortest to longest in the changer. Each of the 512 different tools can have individual tolerance ranges set varying between 0.15 and 25.4 degrees.
