Tecniplant - Drum Vacuum Filters

Drum Vacuum Filters are one of the most efficient systems for the continuous Solid-Liquid separation. Tecniplant has a huge expertise in the design, engineering and construction of Drum Vacuum Filters. They are essentially composed of a rotating drum, vacuum distributing system, tank, oscillating agitator and “cake” discharge device. The separated solids (so called “cake”) are uniformly dried and distributed over the outer surface of the filtration elements. Several devices can be used for the continuous discharge of the “cake” from the septum, depending to the characteristics of the treated slurry, the Clients’ specifications and needs and Tecniplant’s experience.

Tecniplant - Model MEK - Dewaxing Unit

MEK (Methyl Ethyl Ketone) dewaxing is a complex process process for physically removing wax, by crystallisation and (rotary vacuum) filtration. A rotary vacuum filter consists of a hollow drum that sits in a vat, which is covered by a sealed hood and is maintained at a slightly positive pressure. The drum is rotated allowing the wax cake to be washed with chilled solvent (to reduce the amount of oil trapped in the wax cake) before it is discharged, via a scraper blade, to the wax boot. Due to our long experience with Pressure Vessel, we are also able to manufacture PDU (Propane Dewaxing Unit) which is more suitable in processing Briht Stocks.

Filtration - Horizontal Vacuum Filters

Tecniplant - Horizontal Vacuum Belt Filter

One type (HVBF – Horizontal Vacuum Belt Filter) is equipped with a special reinforced rubber belt with draining grooves supporting the filtration cloth. The belt and the cloth are simultaneously driven continuously. HVBF is normally used with high capacities, heavy solids and large filtration surfaces.

The other type (HVCF – Horizontal Vacuum Cloth Filter) is generally used for smaller filtration surfaces and only requires the filtration cloth without any rubber support. The cloth is driven intermittently. HVCF is generally used for smaller flow rates and surfaces with lighter solids content.

Tecniplant has a huge expertise in the design, engineering and construction of Pressure Candle Filters and Pressure Leaf Filters, both Horizontal and Vertical models. The Filter is composed of a pressure tank containing the filtering elements and the washing device or dry cake removal system. The filtering elements are vertically mounted cloth covered plates in Stainless Steel/Titanium/PVC/PE/PP (so called leaves) or special candles (made in plastic materials or stainless steel).

Tecniplant - Vertical Pressure Leaf Filters

The vertical pressure leaf filters represent an efficient system for Solid-Liquid separation with low filtration surfaces. Easy to operate and maintain, they consist in rectangular filtering leaves with different dimensions, which are vertically mounted on an outlet manifold in a pressure tank. The filtering elements filter through both sides. In order to remove the cake, the discharge and the cleaning of the leaves can be supplied as follows:

Flotation - API/CPI - Separators

API Oily Water Separators and CPI – Corrugated Plate Interceptor – allow the separation in the oily water treatment of the suspended solids and of the oil globules from water by gravity separation principle that is based on the difference of specific gravity between the phases (oil, solid, water). API and CPI are often used for a preliminary water treatment in order to process the waste water before the flotators (Tecniplant’s IGF Units). API and CPI separators can be supplied as a complete package (metallic basin with instrumentation, ancillaries and automation). The CPI separators can be supplied in pressurized design (U-STAMP, PED)

The Static Mixers are in-line mixing devices which consist of mixing elements inserted in a length of pipe. The energy for mixing is derived from the pressure loss incurred as the process fluids flow through the mixing element and additional pumping energy is necessary over and above that normally needed for pumping requirements. The number of elements required in any application is dependent on the difficulty of the mixing duty, more elements being necessary for difficult tasks.
