Tenax™ Filament Yarn by Teijin Limited is a robust carbon fiber product engineered to enhance the structural properties of both thermoset and thermoplastic composites. The yarn is available in a wide range of specifications, from 67 to 3,200 tex, and is compatible with various processes, including prepregging, filament winding, weaving, braiding, and pultrusion. Tenax™ Filament Yarn is specially coated with fiber sizing which not only protects during handling and processing but also ensures optimal wet-out. It supports compatibility with different resin systems including epoxy, polyurethane, and vinylester for thermoset applications, and PEEK, PEI, and PA for thermoplastics. Depending on its properties, export of carbon fibers may require authorization, guided by international export control regimes.

Tenax™ ThermoPlastic UniDirectional (TPUD) Tape is a highly specialized prepreg combining robust carbon fiber with customized sizing tailored for thermoplastic applications, incorporating high-temperature polymers like PEEK, PPS, and low-melt PAEK. It is readily available in standard widths and supports slitting down to narrower widths as needed. Engineered for versatile application, it can be applied manually or through automated processes such as tape laying and fiber placement. The material can be consolidated under various conditions, including static or semi-continuous presses, or vacuum ovens, making it suitable for manufacturing tubular parts via winding processes. Notably, the Tenax™-E TPUD PEEK-HTS45 variant is proven non-cytotoxic under DIN EN ISO 10993-5, indicating its safe use in medical devices within specified exposure limits.
