We develop the conceptual model of groundwater flow and forecast scenarios, by means of mathematical models of water system flow and transport.
We provide to private parties, managing bodies, authorities, and organisations, the necessary support for better groundwater management in terms of water level control, quali-quantitative resource management and energy production by means of geothermal systems.
Geological Consulting
We support designers providing direct and indirect investigations, building calculation models that simulate the subsoil response to the stress induced.
We carry out geological and geomorphological surveys, quantitative and qualitative assessment of soils and rocks excavated from quarries or during underground works.
Environmental Forensics
Tethys personnel has an experience of more than twenty years in advising lawyers on environmental and geological issues, such as industrial site pollution, criminal and civil proceedings, as well as arbitrations. We provide our technical services cooperating with lawyers involved in lawsuits, to identify feasible solutions from the legal and technical viewpoints, by means of the best investigation methodologies currently available.
Groundwater Flow Mathematical Models
In the management of groundwater resources and the design of remediation systems in contaminated sites, using advanced tools is essential. Mathematical models allow the simulation of groundwater flow both in the saturated and unsaturated subsoil, the transport of contaminants and heat propagation in groundwater also in density-dependent condition (i.e. saltwater intrusion). Tethys’ professionals take advantage of state-of-the-art models like MODFLOW-USG, MT3D, SEAWAT and FEFLOW.
Geographic Information Systems
Spatial 2D and 3D analysis using advanced tools, development of Information Territorial Systems customised and taking into account the specific requirements of the final user. Examples of application: natural resource management (i.e. surface water and groundwater), mapping of geological – hydrogeological and hydraulic risks for urban areas and infrastructures, management and analysis of pollution data in the characterisation and remediation industrial site processes, support to the design and the hierarchy of investments for technological and road networks (aqueducts, irrigation canals, pipelines,..), 3D volume analyses (quarries, excavations,..), monitoring of the territorial asset and development, market research.
Advanced Chemical Analysis
Advanced investigation method (compositional fingerprinting, isotopic fingerprinting, integral pumping test) aimed to obtain more information relating to the standard sampling and analysis method (in particular the spatial-temporal source of contamination localisation).
Environmental Investigation
Soil and groundwater sampling using Geoprobe®. Groundwater and aquifer characterisation: in-well and multi-level sampling, slug tests, pumping tests, tests with infiltrometer.
Site Remediation
We develop characterisation projects and Risk Analysis, we design safety and remediation measures according to the local law requirements. We also perform environmental due diligence and audits.
