Solid Waste Planning

Tetra Tech BAS has worked closely with solid waste facility operators, local government, and solid waste system stakeholders to evaluate and implement strategies to meet the long-term waste disposal needs of local communities. We provide a comprehensive “one-stop shop” for managing the strategic planning, engineering, and regulatory compliance needs of waste management authorities.

Solid Waste Engineering

Tetra Tech BAS can provide engineering and design support throughout the life of a solid waste facility: from initial siting and planning, to facility layout and master planning, to design of site improvements, to final closure design.

Regulatory Compliance

Tetra Tech BAS’ Regulatory Compliance Division provides full-service permitting support to operators of landfill facilities, solid waste transfer stations, and material recovery and recycling facilities. Our staff of permitting specialists can help operators navigate through the constantly-evolving environmental regulations that govern solid waste facility development and operation.

Construction Management

Effective construction management helps ensure that projects are constructed on time, within budget, and in accordance with plans and specifications. BAS’ staff of construction managers have more than 20 years of experience in the construction industry, and feature specialized experience in large earthwork operations, liner and cover installation, and civil infrastructure construction.

Operations and Maintenance

BAS’ field technicians and engineering support personnel provide a full spectrum of design, monitoring, and maintenance support for landfills and hazardous waste sites. All field staff have OSHA-required hazardous waste site operation and emergency response training, and are fully equipped to assist in the routine and non-routine operation and repair of environmental control systems.

Site Assessment Services

Tetra Tech BAS has performed Environmental Assessments of single properties and multiple parcel redevelopment areas. Tetra Tech BAS utilizes an ASTM and USEPA AAI-compliant site assessment methodology that provides clients with comprehensive defensible results in a concise manageable format.

Remedial Action Planning

Tetra Tech BAS has 27 years of experience preparing and implementing Remedial Action Plans for the cleanup of impacted sites throughout the West.

Remediation Oversight

Tetra Tech BAS engineers and geologists can oversee remedial construction activities to ensure that clean-up work is performed in compliance with local, state, and Federal regulatory requirements. Field staff have experience overseeing waste removal operations, final closure cap installation, UST removals, and construction and start-up of groundwater pump-and-treat systems, soil vapor extraction systems, and bioremediation systems.

Brownfields Redevelopment Support

BAS’ remediation and redevelopment planning experience is extensive and ranges from clean-ups of single industrial operations, to complex projects involving construction of large mixed use developments on impacted properties. BAS has experience with federal, state, public, and private tools available to support Brownfield redevelopment efforts. This includes EPA’s Brownfields Program, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Brownfields Economic Development Initiative (BEDI), and Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Programs
