The Center for Aquaculture Technologies services

The Center for Aquaculture Technologies combines experience in aquaculture, molecular-based technologies, and in vivo capabilities in wide range of aquatic species, to provide research-based solutions to our collaborators and clients.

Using genetic markers rather than physical tags to assign parentage in order to reliably assess family effects on measurable traits circumvents many of the issues associated with conventional tagging systems. In addition, there is a growing interest in the use of genotyping for traceability and food safety, to study evolutionary biology or for identification of genetic markers that are associated with different phenotypic traits.
