Wetland Certification
Certification Renewal Program Training Courses
To renew the Wetland Delineator Certification a total of 40 hours of wetland continuing education and an $800 fee would be required. This would need to include 10 hours each in soils, vegetation, hydrology and regulatory topics. Many of our short courses and webinars would satisfy this requirement. To start the renewal process choose which certification types you wish to renew. Once you check out, we will contact you for copies of your training and /or conference attendance documentation. Please be sure to only renew the programs for which you were originally certified.
Certified Hydric Soils Investigator Training Courses
Course Details: This course consists of 12 online modules that will educate, test and demonstrate your knowledge about the US Army Corps of Engineers Hydric Soils Indicators for all 10 regions. Each module takes about 3-4 hours to complete and students are welcome to compete them at their own pace during the class’ 16-week time frame. In addition to the modules, there is a field work project that needs to be coordinated with the instructor. The class concludes with a review of your field work and a final exam. Upon successful completion of the class and a grade of 80% or higher, you will earn Certified Hydric Soils Investigator (CHSI) status and receive a certificate as well as an electronic seal to use on reports and proposals. This certification is valid for five years and is eligible for renewal with additional continuing education. the Certified Hydric Soils Investigator (CHSI) is part of The Swamp School’s overall Certified Wetland Delineator Program (CWD).
Certified Wetland Botanist Training Courses
This course consists of 12 online modules in which we will study region-specific species and cover the most common wetland plants in each of the US Army Corps of Engineers’ 10 regions. Each module takes about 3-4 hours to complete and students are welcome to compete them at your own pace during the class’ 16-week time frame. In addition to the modules, there is a field work project that needs to be coordinated with the instructor. The field work consists of collecting plant samples and uploading them to a virtual herbarium. With guidance from the teacher, students will learn tips and tricks for identifying the major diagnostic characteristics and classifying species of select wetland plants common to your region.
Certified Wetland Botanist - Winter Edition
This course consists of 12 online modules in which we will study region-specific species and cover the most common wetland plants in each of the US Army Corps of Engineers’ 10 regions. This workshop is focused on the winter (non-growing) season form of the wetland plants. Each module takes about 3-4 hours to complete and students are welcome to compete them at your own pace during the class’ 16-week time frame. In addition to the modules, there is a field work project that needs to be coordinated with the instructor.
Certified Wetland Delineator Training Courses
This course consists of 12 online modules in which we will study how to identify areas of land that would be subject to the Clean Water Act and the Rivers and Harbors Act regulations as administered by the US Army Corps of Engineers and the US Environmental Protection Agency. Each module takes about 3-4 hours to complete and students are welcome to compete them at your own pace during the class’ 16-week time frame. In addition to the modules, there is a field practicum examination that students must schedule with their instructor. The examination is performed at a local wetland site with the teacher monitoring the test virtually. Upon successful completion of the class and a grade of 80% or higher, you will become a Certified Wetland Delineator.

This course consists of 12 online modules that will educate, test and demonstrate your knowledge about the US Army Corps of Engineers Wetland Hydrology Indicators for all 10 regions. Each module takes about 3-4 hours to complete and students are welcome to compete them at their own pace during the class’ 16-week time frame.
