Thermocouples

T-PAK - Thermocouples Probes

T-PAK thermocouples are mineral insulated, metal sheathed probes assemblies that are accurate and sensitive. The outer sheath of stainless steel or other alloys, coupled with tightly compacted magnesia (MgO), ensures relatively long life by protecting the thermocouple from oxidizing, reducing or other corrosive atmospheres.

Thermo-Kinetics - Industrial Thermocouples

Thermo-Kinetics manufactures a variety of industrial thermocouples to meet the requirements of the most demanding process applications. Our Industrial Thermocouples generally include some form of protection for the thermocouple such as a ceramic or metal protection tube.  Platinum elements usually require protection in the form of an outer protection tube, sometimes double tubes, to prevent contamination from the environment.

Thermo-Kinetics - Downhole Thermocouples

Thermo-Kinetics manufactures Downhole Thermocouples for a variety of applications. Below is a list of Downhole temperature and pressure measurement capabilities for reservoir monitoring: SAGD Injection and Production Monitoring Systems. Cyclical Steam Temperature Observation Systems. Multi-Point Observation Well Assemblies. Down-Hole Pump Monitoring Thermocouples. Casing and Tubing Deployed Observation Assemblies. Pump Down, Gravity Feed (Spool-in), Casing and Tubing Conveyed Deployment. Thermocouples injected into Coil Tubing. Wellbore Pressure Monitoring Systems. Bubble Tubes and Piezometers. Data Logging and Software Systems.

Resistance Temperature Detectors (RTDs)

Thermo-Kinetics - Resistance Temperature Detectors (RTDs) Probes

RTDs are sensors used to measure temperature by associating the resistance of the RTD element with temperature. The RTD element is made from pure material, most commonly platinum, but also nickel and copper. Platinum is a noble metal and has the most stable resistance-temperature relationship over a large temperature range.RTDs are slowly replacing thermocouples in many industrial applications below 600°C, due to their higher accuracy and repeatability. Thin film elements are most commonly used today, although ceramic wire wound elements still have their place. Ceramic wire wound RTDs are used when the temperature being measured is higher or if there is vibration in the application.

Averaging Resistance Temperature Detectors

Thermo-Kinetics - Continuous Averaging Resistance Temperature Detectors (RTD)

The continuous averaging RTD probe measures the temperature over its entire length to provide a true average temperature measurement of the cross sectional area of large air ducts or other low temperature air averaging applications. The sensing element is contained within a bendable 3/16” O.D tube and its resistance output conforms to a 100 ohm platinum element with a 0.00385 temperature coefficient. Lengths up to 50 feet in copper and 20 feet in stainless steel can be supplied. Units can be provided with integrally mounted 4-20 mA transmitters. Maximum temperature rating is 100°C.

Thermo-Kinetics - Averaging Resistance Temperature Detectors (RTD)

The point averaging probe is used to measure the average cross-sectional temperature of large air ducts or low temperature ovens and drying kilns. The unit measures at 5 and 10 points specified along its length and averages these temperatures for a single output. The sensing elements are inside a 0.270” O.D flexible stainless steel armoured cable. An optional PVC covered cable is available for moisture protection. Resistance output conforms to a 100 ohm platinum element with a 0.00385 temperature coefficient. Units can be provided with integrally mounted 4-20 mA transmitters. Maximum temperature is 200°C (100°C with PVC Jacket).

Thermo-Kinetics - Averaging Resistance Temperature Detectors (RTD)

The point averaging probe is used to measure the average cross-sectional temperature of large air ducts or low temperature ovensand drying kilns. The unit measures at 5 or 10 points specified along its length and averages these temperatures for a single output. The sensing elements are inside a 0.250” O.D. stainless steel tube. Resistance output conforms to a 100 ohm platinum element with a .00385 temperature coefficient. Units can be provided with integrally mounted 4-20 mA transmitters. Maximum temperature is 200°C.

Thermo-Kinetics - Thermowells

Thermowells are principally used with Thermocouples, RTDs (Resistance Temperature Detectors) and Bimetal Thermometers in applications where it is necessary to measure temperature at high pressure (above 75 psig) or in hostile environments. They are also used for isolation, so a sensor can be replaced without having to shut down the process. Thermowells are machined from solid barstock. Safe working pressures depend on the well material, operating temperature and the velocity of the flowing medium. Thermo-Kinetics stocks a complete range of standard tapered, straight and reduced-tip thermowells to meet most applications. Flanged, Socket Weld, Van Stone, Ground Joint and Weld-in thermowells are also available. Special wells in various materials, sheaths and coatings meet unique requirements.

Thermo-Kinetics - Protection Tubes

Protection Tubes are used to protect sensors, usually thermocouples, against contaminating atmospheres and/or mechanical damage. Closed at one end, they usually incorporate some means by which the tube, sensor and connection head are assembled and mounted into the process. The Protection Tube material is selected on the basis of the environment to which the sensor assembly will be subjected.

Thermo-Kinetic - Thermocouple & Extension Wire

Thermo-Kinetics stocks a broad inventory of the most common calibrations and insulations of Thermocouple and Thermocouple Extension wire.
