Detectors

Thorlabs - Single Photon Detectors

Thorlabs` Single Photon Detectors, which use a silicon avalanche photodiode to detect single photons, are sensitive to photons emitted in the 350 to 900 nm range, with the maximum sensitivity around 500 nm (see the graph to the right). Incoming photons are counted by an internal 31-bit counter. In addition, an output SMA connection offers a signal that can be viewed on an oscilloscope or connected to an external counter. Please see the Tutorial tab for details about the functionality of this photon counter.

Thorlabs - Compact Laser Modules with USB Connector

Thorlabs` USB-equipped laser modules feature a typical output power of 0.9 mW (laser safety Class 2) at a 520 nm or 635 nm typical center wavelengths. The output is collimated with a Ø3 mm round beam profile at 50 mm from the housing. These modules offer single-spatial-mode output in a compact, electrically isolated cylindrical housing and are ideal for use as alignment lasers in optical systems. The lasers are driven in constant-power mode, with feedback from an internal photodiode used to maintain the optical output power. As these diodes are not thermally stabilized, their optical output power may fluctuate slightly during operation.

Imaging Systems

Bergamo - Multiphoton Microscopes

The Bergamo II Series is Thorlabs` platform for multiphoton microscopy. Taking advantage of close collaborations with our colleagues in the field, decades of cumulative industry experience, and our extensive manufacturing background, we have engineered a family of modules that enable us to configure each individual microscope to your exact experimental requirements. Our versatile microscopes fully support techniques that require laser scanning, widefield imaging, and transmitted light imaging modalities.

Optical Tables, Breadboards, and Supports - Honeycomb Optical Breadboards

Thorlabs - Optical Breadboards, Optimized Damping, 60 mm (2.4) Thick

Thorlabs` 60 mm (2.4`) thick Nexus™ breadboards are offered in a variety of lengths and widths from 12` x 12` (300 mm x 300 mm) to 36` x 48` (900 mm x 1200 mm). They feature all-steel construction, excellent thermal stability, and broadband damping optimized for each breadboard size. The 5 mm thick stainless steel top and bottom skins have a precision-machined matte finish with surface flatness of ±0.1 mm over any 1 m2 area. The breadboard has 1/4`-20 (M6) mounting holes on 1` (25 mm) centers with a 0.5` (12.5 mm) border at the edge of the breadboard.

Motion Control - Manual Stages - Linear Translation Stages: 1/4` (6 mm) or Less

Thorlabs - Single-Axis Flexure Translation Stages: 1.5 mm Travel

Thorlabs` NanoFlex flexure stages are compact stages that offer translation without friction or sticking. The flexure mechanism used in these translation stages is a frictionless mechanism that has improved positioning and resolution when compared to similar stages made using bearings. The translation of the stage is accomplished by the elastic deformation (flexing) of a linkage attached to the mounting platform. The translation stage has a manual translation range of 1.5 mm with an independent piezoelectric translation range of 25 μm (see the Selection Guide tab for stages with 5 mm manual translation). Piezo connection is made by a standard SMC terminal.

Plano-Convex Spherical Lenses - N-BK7 Plano-Convex Spherical Lenses

Thorlabs - Plano-Convex Lenses (Uncoated)

These uncoated Plano-Convex Lenses are fabricated from RoHS-compliant N-BK7 glass. N-BK7 is typically chosen whenever the additional benefits of UV fused silica (i.e., good transmission further into the UV and a lower coefficient of thermal expansion) are not necessary. They have a positive focal length and near-best-form shape for infinite and finite conjugate applications.

Heater Controller

The TC200 Heater Controller is a benchtop controller intended for use with resistive heating elements rated up to 18 W. This general-purpose instrument can drive various types of heaters, including foil (HT10K) and resistive coil (HT15W) types. The unit accepts feedback from either positive (TH100PT) or negative (TH10K) temperature coefficient thermistors, has programmable P, I, and D gains, and will display the temperature in either °F, °C, or K. In addition, the TC200 can be programmed for up to five sequential temperature settings along with associated ramp and hold times for each level. A user programmable maximum temperature limit provides protection to the device being heated and a user-programmable power limit protects the heating element from being over driven. Other safety features include an Open Sensor Alarm that will shut down the driver if the temperature sensing element is missing or becomes disconnected.
