Triton - Multi Purpose CST Apparatus

The Triton Type 319 Multi-purpose CST can be used with either 5 single radius test heads or with one multi-radii test head for the rapid assessment of resistance to filtration. Each Type 319 CST is supplied with 1 single radius test head; any others are purchased as separate items. The multi-radii test head has 5 probes set at intervals to give the same volume between each probe. This is illustrated in the chart below. It has been shown that for a wide range of different types of sludge there is an approximately linear relationship between the specific resistance to filtration, using the standard Buchner funnel apparatus and the multi-radii test head. When using the multi-radii test head the Type 319 unit automatically divides the time by the probe number. Since filtration fulfils the classical parabolic relationship between time and volume of filtrate, then the arithmetic difference in the reading is constant and directly proportional to the specific resistance.

Triton - Stirrer Timer

The model Type 317 is a replacement for the Type 133/131. Test Stirrer/Timer performs to the EC standard and is recommended by the Water Research Centre for assessing the stability of a sewage sludge. Often used in conjunction with the CST apparatus, the sludge is subjected to high-speed stirring simulating different degrees of imposed shear. This will asses the physical strength of the conditioned sludge flocs, and determine the stability of sludge for different types of dewatering equipment.

It is designed and tested to comply with European and USA EMC standards. The mains input supply can be set for either European or USA standards.

SSVI Apparatus

Triton - Reader

The SSVIr Reader determines sludge settling rate and gives an indication of turbidity and also mixed liquor suspended solids (MLSS). It is made to fit with the standard SSVI measuring equipment – Type 305. The SSVIr operates by passing an infra red beam through the settlement column. The amount of infra red light absorbed by the sludge is related to the solid content. Hence, the settled sludge will absorb significantly more light than the clear supernatant showing the sludge height. The sludge height is plotted against time, from this data it is possible to determine the settling rate as well as SSVI.
