Tyne - In-Core Amplifier

Tyne`s In-Core Amplifier Model 7007 provides the same functionality and form factor as existing In-Core Amplifiers, and at the same time improves the performance by using upgraded military components. Higher accuracy / linearity and higher reliability have been proved by the successfully completed functionality tests (results available on request).

Tritium Handling

Tyne - Isotopic Separation System

This equipment is based on two molecular sieve packed columns, each cryogenically cooled with liquid nitrogen, and can alternatively be heated in small increments along their length. Mixed isotopes of hydrogen from an electrolyzer are batch injected into the system and deposited onto one of the two cooled columns. Temperatures are regulated to allow the isotopes to come off the first column in order of molecular size. By manipulating both columns simultaneously and transferring between the columns, it is possible to achieve a clean cut between the different isotopes and to deposit clean pure tritium onto a getter bed, and to discharge pure hydrogen to the stack thus reducing the volume before adding another batch.

Tyne - Tritium Removal Oxidizer

This plant was designed and built by Tyne to take hydrocarbons containing tritium, and to separate out the carbon. This is done by first heating the hydrocarbons to high temperature over a catalyst with an abundance of oxygen to reduce the organics to carbon dioxide and water. The carbon dioxide together with excess oxygen will be filtered, dried, monitored for tritium and released to stack.

Tyne`s strength lies in its ability to both design and build tritium systems. For complex tritium systems it is this combination of skills which makes Tyne a better more practical designer, and a cautious and understanding manufacturer that is more aware of the consequences of inadequate manufacturing or design.

Tritium Instruments

Tyne - Tritium Controller

The Tritium Controller carries out the signal processing for multi-range tritium detector heads (ionization chamber with preamplifier). It is operated by a large, touch screen mounted on the front panel, it has an easy-to-read display and a full set of menu options.

Tyne - 1000 cc Ion Chamber

The 1000 cc Ion Chamber is designed to be an in-line radiation in a process gas detector with the most typical application being Tritium. The inlet and outlet VCR 8 connectors allow the chamber to be easily mounted into an existing process line. The internal anode is connected to a floating BNC which can be biased up to 100 V. The high resistance ceramic of the feed through allows the ionization chamber to measure ionization currents as low as 1 fA (1 µCi/m³ of Tritium). The bias voltage is also connected to an inlet precipitator to remove any ionized particles carried into the chamber.
