Pipe comes in a very wide range of sizes in which with Power and Process piping, designers utilize standards controlled by organizations such as ASTM and ASME. Unified Alloys readily stocks various alloys and grades in sizes up to 36” Nominal Pipe Size (NPS), which meet these standards.

A pipe fitting is used for changing direction, branching or joining together a piping system. There are many different types of fittings and they are produced in the same sizes, schedules (wall) and materials as the pipe. The common types of fitting configurations fit into three general groups; Butt-weld, threaded (Screwed) and socket-weld.

The ASME B16.5 - Pipe Flanges and Flange Fittings standard covers pressure-temperature ratings, materials, dimensions, tolerances, marking, testing, and methods of designating openings for pipe flanges and flanged fittings. The standard includes flanges with rating class designations 150, 300, 400, 600, 900, 1500, and 2500 in sizes NPS 1/2 through NPS 24, with requirements given in both metric and U.S units. The Standard is limited to flanges and flanged fittings made from cast or forged materials, and blind flanges and certain reducing flanges made from cast, forged, or plate materials.

Bleed rings provide a convenient way of draining piping, taking samples, attaching instruments or even bleeding of a valve. Unified Alloys stock bleed rings in stainless steel and other corrosion resistant material options.
