Polish, Lap & Grind - Abrasives
Universal Photonics - Boron Carbide #150
Boron Carbide is a high performance abrasive material with chemical and physical properties similar to diamond. Boron Carbide has high chemical resistance and hardness utilized mainly for grinding.
Universal Photonics - Boron Carbide #240
Boron Carbide is a highly efficient abrasive material known for its chemical and physical properties resembling that of diamond. With its significant chemical resistance and exceptional hardness, it serves as an ideal choice primarily for grinding applications. Boron Carbide is typically used by diluting it in water, with deionized (DI) or reverse osmosis (RO) water preferred though not required. Due to its heavy particle nature, strong agitation is necessary to prevent hard packing. The concentration used may vary depending on specific operations. For optimal results, consultation with the Universal Photonics' technical team is recommended to determine the best processing conditions tailored to individual needs.
Optical Blocking & Polishing - Adhesive
Universal Photonics - 3M Neoprene High Performance Contact Adhesive
3M Neoprene High Performance Contact Adhesive 1357 and 1357-L are versatile adhesives known for bonding a wide range of materials including rubber, cloth, metal, wood, foamed glass, paper honeycomb, and decorative plastic laminates. These adhesives are particularly useful in applications involving wood veneers, though successful bonding is influenced by factors such as environmental conditions, the bonding process, and the types of materials used. Users are advised to conduct thorough testing to determine suitability for specific applications, especially with wood veneers, and to adhere to both veneer manufacturers' recommendations and industry guidelines. These adhesives are valued for their high-performance characteristics in demanding bonding environments.
Process Materials - Additives
Universal Photonics - Everflo Liquid Additive for Enhanced Slurry Performance
Everflo is an innovative liquid additive designed to enhance and accelerate the performance of abrasive and polishing compounds. By integrating Everflo into diverse slurry types, it significantly improves the surface finish and operational efficiency. This additive functions as a pad pre-conditioner, establishing a strong affinity with pad and tooling surfaces, thereby ensuring the slurry maintains optimal contact with the work surface for superior surfacing results. Recommended usage includes adding Everflo to pre-mixed slurries at 5-10% concentration by volume, adjustable according to specific operations. Regular consultation with UPI's technical team is advised for tailored processing conditions. While the product's viscosity may decrease over time, its overall performance remains unaffected, provided it is stored in sealed containers at room temperature.
Chilling & Filtering - Centrifuges, Separators & Compactors
Universal Photonics - Centralized Systems
Coolant Cleaning & Supply for: several lens-generating machines (LOH,Schneider, OptoTech, etc.)
The UN1-P220 provides a centralized, fully automatic cleaning and treatment system for several machine tools via a central line. Automatic discharge of the separated solids from the centrifuge allows for treatment of larger quantities of solid material without expensive manual assistance. The UN1-P220 SYSTEM can be located in a separate area, freeing up space around the production machine. Optional equipment is available.
