Universal Steel stocks AR500 in the quenched & tempered conditions, with thicknesses ranging from 3/16” up to 2” thick. AR500 has a nominal hardness of 500 BHN, with standard values ranging from 460 to 540. Due to the extreme hardness of this grade, it is a popular choice for ballistic applications and often used for shooting targets and armor plating.

Universal Steel stocks AR400 in the quenched & tempered conditions, with thicknesses ranging from 3/16” up to 4” thick. AR400 has a nominal hardness of 400 BHN, with standard values ranging from 360 to 440.

Universal Steel stocks SA516 in the as-rolled, normalized, and HIC tested conditions, with thicknesses ranging from 3/16” up to 12.5” thick. SA516 material is available in grades 60, 65, and 70. Specialized testing and chemical or physical requirements vary depending on the specific final application of the steel plate.

Universal Steel stocks SA387 material in grades 11 and 22, both in the Normalized & Tempered condition. SA387 plate, also referred to as ‘Chrome-Moly’ plate, is used in critical pressure retaining applications with superior performance required in high-temperature environments.

Universal Steel stocks A572-50 from 3/16” thick up to 4” thick, and A572-42 above 4” thick up to 6” thick. A572 is used in structural applications where strength and notch toughness are more critical than the general A36 requirements. Standard stock is provided in the as-rolled condition; however, normalized material can be obtained. A572 material with min Charpy (CVN) requirements is available upon request.
