Professional Services - Finance

Finance Division is responsible for all aspects of financial planning and management for the University of Sussex, an efficient and effective service to the University across the full range of financial services - accountancy, payment of suppliers, administration of insurance, invoicing of debtors, procurement of goods and services, collection of income from debtors, investment management, liaison with statutory authorities on financial matters (including accounts, returns, most of which are audited), a value added service to the University assisting in the identification and exploitation of commercial opportunities or cost reduction processes in line with the University"s strategic aims, and in the negotiation of the best terms for the cost of supplies to the University, a collaborative and helpful service to the University in developing ideas and plans to facilitate expansion and further developments, within the best practices of public sector stewardship of resources

Professional Services - Estates and Facilities Management

Estates and Facilities Management leads on of all aspects of campus development and management for the University of Sussex. EFM aims to provide high quality support services to staff, students and visitors to the University and delivers innovative solutions in a safe, functional and cost effective manner, whilst respecting the physical and environmental heritage of the campus.

Professional Services - Health and Safety Office

provide a specialist advisory service to all university personnel on all matters concerning health, safety and welfare at work, keep the University up to date on relevant health and safety legislation, codes of practice and guidance, provide appropriate advice and support so that the University remains compliant with legislation to ensure the safety and health of its staff, students and visitors, promote health, safety and welfare awareness as good practice for all members of staff and students, advise the Vice-Chancellor and University Council on the implementation of the University"s Health and Safety Policy document,implement the University Health and Safety Management system to ensure it supports Schools, and create procedures and guidance to assist on the effective application of the safety management system.

Research and Enterprise

The role of the Research and Enterprise Services is to support the growth of the University of Sussex"s research effort, and its enterprise and knowledge exchange activities. We support the University in working with business, government and the third sector and, where appropriate, to secure the University a beneficial interest in any commercially valuable results of its research.

Residential, Sport And Trading Services

Residential, Sport and Trading Services is responsible for the development and delivery of housing, sport, catering, retail, conferences and childcare at Sussex. RSTS supports and enhances the student and staff experience, in line with agreed long-term development plans for the University. This includes improved social and retail provision, linked to a planned programme of residential development, and development of sports provision.
