Hazardous Waste Management
Since the implementation of the new Hazardous Waste Regulations and the subsequent use of the European Waste Catalogue definitions, the number of wastes classified as hazardous has been significantly increased. Many every day items such as certain cleaning products, fluorescent tubes, aerosols and CRT Monitors are now classified as hazardous and can no longer be disposed of in your general waste containers. Utopia Waste Management provides a complete collection and disposal service for all forms of hazardous and special wastes, regardless of size or quantities. We can also arrange on-site storage containers for your hazardous waste and provide expert advice as to the best and safest methods of storage, handling and disposal.
Confidential Waste
Increasing levels of identity theft, consumer demands for the protection of personal information and the need for companies to protect their interests have made the secure destruction of sensitive information an essential service for many companies and government bodies. Utopia Waste Management provides a nationwide service for the secure collection and destruction of sensitive and confidential material. We can provide both an on-site and off site shredding service to meet your specific requirements. Utilising our extensive network of approved suppliers, we ensure that only fully trained and security vetted personnel (BS7858 standard) carry out the work on behalf of our clients.
Recycling Collections
With landfill tax continuing to rise, recycling is increasingly becoming an essential process for businesses. As well as the obvious environmental benefits, recycling can help businesses make a significant saving on waste disposal costs. Depending on the quantity of wastes produced, recycling can also generate an income for your business. Our recycling collection services can be provided using a full range of containers from 240 litre wheelie bins up to 40 cubic yard containers and compactors. For companies that bale their recyclable materials, such as cardboard, paper and plastics, we can arrange the collection of bales on curtain sided trailers.
Fluorescent Tube Recycling
Since the hazardous waste regulations came into force in July 2005 fluorescent tubes have been classified as hazardous waste and must be disposed of accordingly. Simply disposing of your spent tubes within your general waste container is no longer an option. All fluorescent tubes collected are taken to fully licensed facilities where they are crushed and separated into the different materials which make up the tubes – glass, metal or plastic end caps and mercury bearing phosphor powder. These materials can then be recycled.
