UVC Spectrum Lamps

UVC Spectrum - Ultraviolet Germicidal Lamps

UVC Spectrum produces ultraviolet germicidal lamps that employ low-pressure mercury vapor to emit UV-C radiation aimed at eliminating pathogens at the genetic level. These lamps operate by discharging an electrical arc through a blend of inert gases and mercury vapor housed within a specialized quartz glass tube. The primary wavelength of 254 nm is particularly effective in breaking the molecular bonds within microbial DNA, thus preventing their growth and reproduction. Instant start lamps offered by UVC Spectrum begin operation by applying sufficient voltage to initiate the arc, simplifying electrical requirements despite their limited lifetimes. Preheat operation lamps, on the other hand, heat their electrodes before discharge initiation, using a starter switch mechanism. This method extends filament life by preheating, which is crucial for higher power, low-pressure lamps. The lamp codes 'G' and 'GPH' distinguish instant start and preheat operation types, respectively.

UVC - High Output Lamps

Our high output lamps, though nearly identical to standard lamps in size and shape, are engineered to operate at higher input power and current, thus radiating higher levels of germicidal ultraviolet. These lamps are similarly available in sizes ranging from T5 to T12 (15mm to 32mm) diameter and 100 mm to 2000 mm length and can be produced with broad range of different ceramic bases. We are also happy to work with our customers to develop custom high output lamps that maximize power and efficiency in specific applications. High output lamps are denoted by the abbreviation “GHO” at the beginning of the lamp code or a “/HO” at the end of the lamp code.

UVC - Ozone Producing Ultraviolet Lamps

We also provide ozone producing ultraviolet lamps. These lamps are made of a special fused quartz glass that emits 185 nm wavelength radiation. This radiation causes a photo-chemical reaction with the surrounding ambient oxygen creating ozone gas. Ozone disinfection is often utilized in air, surface, and water sterilization applications and in many cases it is used for its odor eliminating properties. Since ozone is so chemically aggressive, it is also used as a powerful oxidizer in so called Advanced Oxidation Processes, and it is also utilized in Total Organic Carbon Reduction. Our ozone producing lamps are denoted in the lamp code by the abbreviation “VH” (as in “very high ozone”), while the non-ozone producing lamps are denoted by the abbreviation “L” (as in “low ozone”).

Proprietary And OEM Lamps

UVC - Proprietary Lamps

At UVC Spectrum, we work together with our original equipment manufacturer clients in producing their proprietary lamps and helping to maintain their replacement lamp market. Proprietary and patented lamps can be special ordered to match unique systems and help to develop brand recognition in the marketplace. Our state of the art manufacturing facilities have the capability to provide our customers with a very broad set of customizable parameters. We can provide lamps from T5 to T12 sized diameters, and at lengths from 100 mm to 2000 mm. We offer a broad range of ceramic bases, including standard 4-pin, slimline, and medium- and mini- bi-pin. We are also happy to work with our customers in providing custom bases upon request. And with a vast array of different cathode configurations at our disposal, we take pride in helping our customers engineer the best possible solutions for their specific applications. A proprietary customized lamp also allows for greater flexibility in system design, because the system does not have to be designed around the lamp, but rather the two can be designed together as a whole.
