When vacuum airflow is needed, Vooner’s application engineering is able to design a vacuum equipment system related to customer application requirements. The system design will consider desired airflow at vacuum, temperature and moisture content in the vacuum airflow, water source for seal water, place for discharge water, and available voltage. Conserving power usage is very important to any industrial user of vacuum equipment systems. Changes in processes are always an opportunity to adjust pump size or speed to optimal power input for a new airflow at vacuum. Older iron vacuum pumps after 10-20 years of service can lose ability to remove low pressure (vacuum) gas, but consume the same amount of power as a new pump. This loss of airflow at vacuum means wasting the power to recirculate the air inside the pump. This wasted power can be eliminated and the required airflow at vacuum can be restored with a new pump on stainless steel internals. Variable speed drives on vacuum pumps can save up to 30% of original full speed power requirement if the pump is reduced in speed for lower airflow at vacuum requirements.
