Flow Control Equipment
Penstocks
As a penstock manufacturer and a worldwide penstock supplier, Vortex Engineering offers large variety of design options. Penstocks are flat gates that control the flow in a channel by adjusting their vertical position. They are also known as sluice gates and slide gates. There are four types of Penstocks: Wall type, Channel type, Weir and Tilting Weir. Penstocks are composed of six main parts: Frame, Gate, Seal, Spindle, Nut and Actuator. Frame supports the gate against pressure load and creates the axis of vertical movement. Gates are designed to take pressure from front or back depending on the project. Drive shaft can be rising or non-rising type. Water tightness is accomplished by ‘P’ and ‘double lip’ EPDM seals. Actuation is selected based on the required loads. Manual hand wheels, geared hand wheels, or geared motor units can be incorporated. Number of spindles in the design depends on the width of the gate.
Stoplog
As a stoplog manufacturer and a worldwide stoplog supplier, Vortex Engineering provides large variety of design options. Stoplogs are used in wastewater channels to block the flow. They are mostly used in situations where temporary flow cutting is needed such as periodic inspections, maintenance of screening systems and pumps. If the treatment plant has many channels, stoplogs can offer an economic solution because of their portability and simplicity. The entire gate consists of several logs stacked on top of each other to allow height adjustment. Water tightness is accomplished by ‘P’ and ‘double lip’ EPDM seals.
Screening Equipment
Multi Rake Bar Screen
As a multi rake bar screen manufacturer and a worldwide multi rake bar screen supplier, Vortex Engineering offers large variety of dimension and stainless steel grade options. Multi rake bar screens are coarse screens used at the inlet of the wastewater treatment plants. They are designed to capture and remove the solid waste from the stream. The major benefit of this type is its capability to capture and remove larger sized solid material. While the wastewater flows through the screen, the solid waste is trapped on the surface of the screen. The captured waste is removed from the bars by the rake arms, conveyed to the top and then discharged at the top of the screen.
Perforated Band Screen
As a perforated band screen manufacturer and a worldwide perforated band screen supplier, Vortex Engineering offers large variety of dimension and stainless steel grade options. Perforated band screen is a fine screening equipment that is used at the inlet of the wastewater treatment plants. Screenings are moved to the discharge line by the band screen continuously. At the top turning point, screenings are discharged with the help of a cleaning brush and pressure washing system.
Grit Removal Equipment
Grit & Grease Bridge Scraper
As a grit and grease bridge scraper manufacturer and a worldwide grit & grease bridge scraper supplier, Vortex Engineering provides large variety of design options. Grit and grease bridge scrapers are installed in rectangular grit chambers, designed to separate and capture the grit and grease that is found inside the wastewater after screening process. Air is blowed along one side of a rectangular tank to create a spiral flow pattern throughout the tank. The spiral flow increases the distance that the wastewater travels. Therefore it helps heavy materials such as grit to sink while making lighter materials such as grease to float. The grit that is settled to the bottom of the tank is removed by the stationary or travelling pumps as the scum is removed by surface scrapers. The grit that is captured is pumped to the grit classifier while the surface scrapers remove the floating grease.
