Weda Robotics applications

At Weda we design, build and sell pool cleaners for swimming pools and commercial swimming facilities with high demands on performance and reliability. Maintaining good water quality requires both effective water cleaning processes and effective underwater surface cleaning. Furthermore, effective surface cleaning means the amount of chlorine added to the water can be reduced. This contributes to a better environment for both employees and visitors. One of many advantages being a lower risk for allergic reactions.

Weda designs and develops underwater cleaning equipment for tanks and reservoirs in industries like Nuclear Power stations, glass works, steel works, pulp and paper facilities etc. Weda has delivered and installed cleaners in nuclear power plants, glass factories, fish farms, gypsum plants, pulp and paper mills and several other applications where there is a need for cleaning (sludge removal) without having to drain the water.

Weda has been developing and marketing robots for underwater cleaning since the 1970s. The robots are based on strong and efficient pumps in combination with brush systems that release the sediment from the bottom and walls. Weda AB stands for environmental friendliness and sustainability. We are at the forefront of our underwater cleaning solutions and our robots are world class. There are many different types of water reservoirs that need regular cleaning, preferrably without adding environmentally hazardous chemicals without draining and without human entry. Weda´s robots offer the solution since our environmentally friendly robots add no chemicals into the reservoirs and completely eliminates the need to waste water by draining the reservoir. Weda robots are offered in a variety of designs and shapes based on the customers´ demands for their different applications. From smaller units for entry through tight manholes to cleaners with up to five-meter-wide suction heads.

Weda has supplied underwater cleaners to nuclear plants for more than 40 years. Weda has also been collaborating with Westinghouse since 2008, one of the leading suppliers of equipment for the nuclear industry. Westinghouse is handling the sales to the nuclear industry and you can contact them or us if you want to get more information. In collaboration with Westinghouse Electric AB Weda has developed the robot U-DEC (Underwater Decontamination Unit) for cleaning the walls and the bottom of the reactor basin before removing the water above the reactor.

Our priority is to offer and maintain an environmentally friendly and sustainable solution for the environment, nature and marine life. A non-invasive cleaning solution (sediment removal) that does not affect the health or environment of the fish is a key priority for sustainable fish farming. Weda´s robots offer this solution without having to empty their tanks and without staff having to stay in the fish`s habitat.

The new Weda YT-5000 with a five (5) meter wide suction nozzler speeds up the cleaning process considerably. Estimated cleaning speed is up to 3000 sq. meters/hour. The cleaner removes efficiently bottom sedimentation (sand, algae etc.) from the bottom surface and pumps it to a selected discharge point (filter, waste etc).
