Multichannel Sample Concentrator

Evaporex solvent evaporators offer high performance dry down for microtiter plates. An essential part of SPE (solid phase extraction) is sample preparation, where the eluate must be concentrated prior to use. The Evaporex works by utilising two needle assemblies, each consisting of 96 stainless steel needles, that direct heated gas from above and below the microtiter plate. Optimum evaporation is achieved by the right combination of flow rate and air temperature. A third factor is the position of the needles relative to the sample surface. The lower platform can be adjusted to any height relative to the upper assembly. This means that for every microtiter plate size and sample volume, needles can be set close to, but not touching, the sample. This feature minimises drying time and enables the user to develop methods utilising a variety of plate sizes and volumes. The Evaporex concentrates samples in microtiter plates up to five times faster than other techniques.

Solvent Evaporators

The Mistral from Porvair Sciences is designed to remove the traditional laboratory ‘bottleneck’ of solvent evaporation from microplates. It is our most sophisticated automation-friendly model yet, giving significant throughput advantages to laboratories looking to optimise microplate sample preparation. Faster than centrifugal evaporation for single plates, significant increases in sample throughput are achieved through advanced evaporator head technology and an innovative manifold design, which directly injects heated nitrogen into each individual well of the microplate simultaneously. Installation requires only connection to a gas supply and mains electricity. Safety of operation is ensured as this CE-marked compact unit fits into all fume cupboards and boasts full integral fume management within the unit.

Multichannel Microplate Pipetting System

The iPipette removes the tedious chore of pipetting to microtiter plates. The compact design configured with Apricot Designs EZ Load pipetting head and disposable tips allow for quick set up and operation. Working volume options range from 0.5-125 μL, 1-500 μL or 5-1000 μL. The user can clamp the pipetting head using a simple lever for the basic series or via push button control for the Pro Series. The iPipette allows indexing of the pipetting head for accessing 384-well plates with a 96 channel version, as well as options for indexing for serial dilutions by column.

Personal Pipettor

The Personal Pipettor offers 96 or 384 channel high performance pipetting that is ideal for multichannel microtiter plate pipetting or serial dilution applications. The microprocessor controlled pipetting mechanism provides accurate and precise pipetting of microtiter volumes of samples into 96-, 384- or 1536- well microtiter plates. The system can be configured with fixed or disposable tips with either a low volume (0.5-125 μl) or high volume (1-1000 μl) dispense. The Personal Pipettor electronically clamps the pipetting head allowing simple and easy set up. The system is controlled with an Apple® iPad® configured with an easy to use graphical interface. It automatically indexes the dispense head to allow a 96-well head to access a 384-well plate, or a 384-well head to access a 1536-well plate. The Personal Pipettor has a 5 plate position deck, as well as a wash/waste reservoir.
