Woods Hole Group bases coastal engineering design on developing a solid understanding of site-specific coastal processes. As such, engineering design extends beyond just calculations and drawing - designs are geared to work effectively with the coastal processes to identify the most feasible solution, while extending the system service life. All stages of alternative assessment, design, and planning coastal infrastructure rely on years of expert experience from a group of personnel who have made understanding oceans, coasts, harbors, and estuaries their engineering focus. For over 20 years Woods Hole Group has been providing state-of-the-art services in the field of Physical Oceanography and Ocean Engineering using a variety of tools for a diverse clientele including oil and gas companies, engineering companies, rig providers, port and harbor authorities, and government agencies. As an applied science company, we have built our reputation on a solid scientific framework. Woods Hole Group designs, builds and installs multiple offshore observation systems, including real-time monitoring systems, collects high quality data, analyzes these data, and reports in the framework of numerous deepwater as well as coastal wave and current measurement programs worldwide.

From assessing baseline conditions, to determining contaminant transport and evaluating damage, Woods Hole Group has the expertise and experience to provide environmental assessments of aquatic and terrestrial environments. Our multi-disciplinary team of Ph.D. and M.S.-level scientists has worked with a wide range of clients throughout the world. Woods Hole Group specializes in assessing and working to minimize potential ecological and human health impacts from proposed projects through the environmental impact assessment process. Once contamination has occurred, we determine the fate, transport and any impacts from point and non-point pollutant sources, including damage to natural resources and to human health.

Our core strengths with Port, Harbor & Coastal Monitoring Systems and Offshore Met-Ocean Systems and Moorings are complemented by extensive experience with sediment and water quality characterizations, along with biological community delineation and monitoring. Our field teams are safety trained, and have proven experience working in wetlands, rivers, estuaries, beaches, the shallow shelf, and the deep ocean to accomplish client objectives the first time, avoiding delays and cost increases.
