2008 USA Speakers Dr. Kim Basham is a registered professional engineer and prior to forming KB Engineering, he was the Engineering Director for World of Concrete and Contributing Editor for Concrete Construction magazine. He was also an Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering at University of Wyoming and Virginia Military Institute. Dr. Basham specializes in construction techniques, concrete technology, repairs, forensic and design engineering. Dr. Basham is a member of various ACI committees, has served as an expert witness of both construction and engineering in numerous litigation and arbitration cases and is the author of hundreds of published articles. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and Master of Science in Structural Engineering and also holds a PhD in Civil Engineering. Christi Collins has served as the Executive Director of the American Concrete Pumping Association (ACPA) for the past eight years. As Executive Director, Christi is responsible for implementing the safety and certification programs developed by the ACPA. She is a contributing editor of the ACPA Concrete Pumping Magazine, a past member of the ASCC Annual Conference Seminar Committee, and serves as Vice Chair of the ConExpo-Con/AGG Education Committee. Most recently, she has helped develop a very successful ACPA Education Conference. Michael Davy is a District Technical Manager of the Cocoa District for CEMEX USA. He is a member of ASTM Committee C09.49 on Pervious Concrete (Task Group Chair for Fresh Density), and is also a member of ACI Committees 330 (Concrete Parking Lots) and 522 (Pervious Concrete). He holds a Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology, and is a Licensed Engineer in Florida. Robert Edwards is the director of Product Safety and Development for Alliance Concrete Pumps. Rob's current duties include writing and supervision of operation manuals, parts books, decal location guides, safety manuals, safety bulletins, warning labels, and safety training. He is the corporate figurehead for Alliance in lawsuits and acts as the liaison between the company and the lawyers when coordinating the litigation efforts. Rob is the author of the concrete pumping Safety Manual, several safety training programs for ACPA, and numerous articles for concrete publications. He is president of the Concrete Pump Manufacturers Association and a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. Terence C. Holland is a consulting engineer in the areas of concrete materials and concrete construction practices. He is a graduate civil engineer with a Masters and Doctorate in Civil Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. His area of graduate study was construction engineering with an emphasis on concrete materials and concrete construction. He is a past president of the American Concrete Institute (ACI) and past chairman of the ACI Technical Activities Committee, past chairman of ACI Committee 234, Silica Fume, and past chairman of ACI Committee 546, Repair of Concrete. He is also a member of ASCE and ASTM and is the author of numerous technical papers. Art Pinto has over 20 years of experience in the decorative concrete field, first as an installer then as a manufacturer. He has taught decorative concrete seminars all over the US, Mexico, Russia, Brazil, Belize, Chile, Peru, Canada and Italy. Art focuses his talents to manufacturing a full line of decorative concrete products with special emphasis on quality and ease of use. Predrag Popovic is Vice President of Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates, Inc. Mr. Popovic specializes in condition assessment, load testing and repair of existing structures. He has investigated, designed and/or supervised the repairs for many building facades including balconies, parking structures, bridges, silos and fire damaged structures. His consulting experience includes design of foundation underpinning and strengthening and retrofitting of deficient concrete and steel structures. Mr. Popovic holds structural engineering degrees from the University of Belgrade and the Illinois Institute of Technology. Genaro Salinas has a degree in Civil Engineering from the Monterrey Institute of Technology, Mexico. He is an ACI Certification Examiner and Training Professor for Field and Strength Testing Technicians, Concrete Flatwork Technician and the Tilt-Up Supervisor/Technician Certifications. Genaro is also Vice-president in charge of training seminars for construction workers at the Mexican Construction Industry Chamber, Juarez office. He owns his own engineering company in Mexico and works as a consultant for Ready Mix Concrete firms and concrete contractors. Scott Tarr recently joined Concrete Engineering Specialists as Partner and Forensic Engineer. Prior to joining CES, Mr. Tarr was a Principal Engineer in the Structural Evaluation Section of CTLGroup, Skokie, IL, for 16 years. As a licensed PE in multiple states, his primary experience is in the area of problem-solving distressed concrete slabs on ground (interior and exterior) and flooring failures throughout the United States and internationally. Mr. Tarr is a member of ICRI and ACI where he serves on several committees. He holds a Master of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of New Hampshire, specializing in Pavements and Constructed Systems. He is a co-author of Concrete Floors on Ground for the Portland Cement Association. Michelle Wilson is Manager of the Education and Product Development Departments at the Portland Cement Association (PCA). She is responsible for the development, content, and training of PCA’s education and training programs and technical products covering the entire spectrum of concrete technology and cement manufacturing. She has given numerous workshops and presentations around North America on ACI certification, concrete materials, construction, inspection, troubleshooting, and repair. She participates in concrete research activities and produces technical literature that serves the needs of design and construction professionals within the concrete industry.
