The choice includes: Gold-Sheathed Tungsten (AuW), Tungsten (W), Rhenium-Tungsten (WX), Nickel (Ni) and Nickel Alloy. Each type has specific characteristics such as corrosion resistance, oxidation resistance, catalytic reactions and sensitivity for use which are dependent on the application required.
