When assembled, spacer pushes Bellrelieving stress and reducing chances of tele-scoping pipes. Spacers maintain proper flowline while restraining against floatation.PVC INSTALLATION-RESTRAININGThe CASCADE Casing Spacer system replaces the old method of banding wooden skids to the car-rier pipe with steel straps. Compare CASCADE’S method with the obsolete one. In addition to the typ-ical positioning design shown on this page, CASCADE has also developed designs for:• Placing multiple carriers within one casing• Positioning thermally insulated pipe without damage to insulation• Centering small carriers within large casings• Positioning gravity sewer to on grade requirementsCASCADE FEATURES• Lowest coefficient of friction in the industry — easy to push• High corrosion resistance — eliminate backfill• Dielectric insulator — cathodic protection• Design flexibility — position carrier positively• Simple to use — trouble free insertion• Require at least two sets ofhands to attach.• Cumbersome, time consum-ing, greasy. Notching andbanding tools needed.• Hard to push. Catch on weldbeads. Carrier rotates. Jointsare destabilized. Binding canbreak straps or skids, makingremoval and reinsertion nec-essary.• Corrodes. Requires backfillto insure long term stability.Allows bacteria to concen-trate.• Backfill of sand, gravel, orgrout is expensive and makesfuture access difficult orimpossible.CASCADE ALL STAINLESSSTEEL CASING SPACERSWOODEN SKIDS ANDSTRAPS• Easily attached by a singleperson.• No special tools needed.• Slide into casing with minimumpushing force. Low coefficientof friction lets runners glide overrough spots insuring trouble freeinsertion. Lowest Coefficientof Friction in the Industry.• High Corrosion Resistance –100% chemically passivated;Dielectrically insulates carrierand holds securely without anybackfill.• No Backfill – Lowers con-struction costs and allows forfuture access.THE CASCADE SYSTEM3CASCADE All stainlessSteel Casing Spacersare the state of the artsystem for insertingpipes within pipes. Theold method of strappingon and greasing wood-en skids is obsolete.Compare CASCADE’Ssystem with the anti-quated wooden skids...EXPERIENCECASCADE IS THE LEADER in casing spacers forthe water and sewer industry with literally thousandsof successful installations across the nation.CASCADE has worked with every type of pipeused in water and sewer systems. New chal-lenges are welcome, but chances are if it is awater or sewer application - we’ve already done it.QUALITYCASCADE is the leader in quality as well as expe-rience from the liner to the runner - inside to out- there is no corner cutting. Each componentmaterial was carefully selected so that the prod-uct would be top notch - the best available.Imitators make cheaper products - not equalproducts.WHY CASCADE?THE CASCADE SYSTEM4SPECIFYING SPACER WIDTH & PLACEMENT INTERVALSCASING SPACER PLACEMENT DIAGRAMStandard: Assists installation andcarries slip joint bells at least .75" off cas-ing wall. Maintains dielectric insulation. No restraint against movement such asfloatation or surge pressure bucking.Centered & Restrained:Positions carrier in center of casing.Provides restraint against movement.Best for mechanically restrained pipejoints.Restrained: Keeps carrier atbottom of casing while restrainingagainst movement.Multiple & Restrained:Reduces bores under highway.BASIC POSITIONSTYPICAL STEEL/D.I.CARRIERTYPICAL PLASTICCARRIERWhen deciding the width and placement inter-vals of CASCADE spacers, the main concernsare pipe stiffness, joint stability, height of separa-tion between carrier and casing, and live load.Generally, stiffer pipe can be supported ade-quately at greater intervals than more flexiblepipe. Casing pipes have deflections, ridges, orotherwise uneven surfaces. Care should betaken to maintain joint stability during, as well asafter, installation. Unless special circumstances exist, CASCADErecommends 8” wide spacers at 10’ intervals onsizes up to 48” pipe. Pipes over 48” O.D. shouldbe supported with 12” wide spacers. For ductile iron carrier pipes, 10’ intervals are theadequate through 60” O.D. For steel carrierpipes, 8’ intervals are adequate through 60” O.D.For 24” and larger pipe with the separationbetween carrier and casing greater than 5 inch-es, 6’ intervals and/or 12” wide spacers shouldbe considered. All variations of PVC pipes (sewer, C-900 andthinner wall PVC) need support at closer inter-vals and should be supported every 6’.Polyethylene pipes vary widely in the intervalrequired and depends on the wall thickness andthe maximum allowable deflection between sup-ports. The pipe manufacturer should be consult-ed if intervals longer than 6’ are desired.Concrete and prestressed concrete cylinderpipe require shorter intervals. Always use ModelCCS-ER Spacers. In all instances, a spacer should be placed soas to support the carrier within 2’ of the end ofthe casing pipe. Please consult Cascade if there are anyspecial conditions or if any questionsarise. For multiple pipe Casing Spacers, consultfactory.THE CASCADE SYSTEM5CORRECTING FOR GRADERESTRAINED CONFIGURATIONMULTIPLE CARRIERSDUAL CARRIERSCENTERED CONFIGURATIONTUNNEL LINERSAMPLE DRAWINGSORDERING INFORMATION6RUNNERLINERSHELLRIBBEDSHELL - Minimum 14 gauge T-304 stainless steel.
