Asbestos Management Services Brochure

ASBESTOS SURVEY AND REMOVALSince expanding our service range toinclude asbestos surveying and removal in1999, Sureclean has built up a large team ofoperatives, supervisors and management, alltrained by industry association specialists toprovide asbestos management services.Surveys and Bulk SamplingOur team is fully qualified to undertakebuilding surveys and bulk sampling in orderto locate asbestos still present withinbuildings, factories and installations. On aproject-by-project basis the best course ofaction is determined, based on the conditionand location of the asbestos and other localconsiderations. Dependent on the projectthere are several alternatives - it may be thatthe asbestos is safest left in placeundisturbed, or it may be necessary toencapsulate the asbestos using non-asbestosmaterial, or it may be determined that thebest course of action is to carry out acontrolled asbestos removal.Asbestos RemovalWhen removal is deemed the best option weuse the most appropriate stripping techniqueor a combination of techniques to minimiseasbestos fibre release, taking into account thetype of material containing the asbestos, theconditions and control of the work area andthe ultimate disposal of the debris. The most advanced environmenta lmonitoring equipment, wetting techniquesand decontamination facilities are selectedon a project-by-project basis to ensure thatthe asbestos is removed in a safe andefficient manner.Carrier’s LicenceIn addition to our survey andremoval capabilities, Surecleanholds a Carrier’s Licence andWaste Management Licencewhich enables the stripped asbestos to betransported to our Alness Transfer Station ordirectly to the ultimate disposal site asappropriate.Sureclean provides a turnkey asbestosmanagement and handling service whichcan, in a single operation, solve the problemof locating asbestos and ensuring its safemanagement thereafter.Asbestos survey and removalAsbestos surveying and removal are specialist serviceswhich demand the highest standards of operation andprocedural control. Our philosophy is not only to complywith the onerous legislation pertaining to working withasbestos, but to exceed these requirements.ASBESTOS SURVEY AND REMOVALSmoke Generators (illustrated bottom-centre overleaf)Powerful hand-held smoke machines used toprove the integrity of enclosures prior tocommencing asbestos removal activities.Proprietary chemicals held within a canisterreact when heated to emit a form of smokethat is non-toxic and non-hazardous. Theextracted air passes through an integral HighEfficiency Particle Absolute (HEPA) filter whichremoves contaminants with 99.997% efficiency.Electric powered (see technical data table).AirflowA wide selection of NPUs are available withairflow capacities ranging from 880 m3/hr(500 cfm) to 15,000 m3/hr (8500 cfm). Theseare chosen based on the volume of theenclosure and the necessary frequency of airchanges. All have variable speed capability toenable optimum control of the airflow.Technical DataNegative Pressure Units (NPUs)HEPA FiltersAvailable with a choice of two or three stagefiltration using high efficiency pre-filters,optional intermediate filters and HEPA finalstage filters. All ‘absolute’ filters used havebeen sized according to the output of themotors to ensure that the filter’s capacity is notexceeded and that optimum airflow andfiltration is achieved by maintaining efficiencyacross the filters.Hook-Up and Interface RequirementsElectricity supply (various, see technical data).Other Features The motor and filters are housed in a singlepolypropylene unit which is robust yet lightand portable.NPUs are used in conjunction withappropriately sized, fire resistant, lightweightflexible ducting to achieve optimum airmanagement. The ducting is made of a PVCcoated glassfibre fabric permanently bonded toa corrosion resistant high-tensile spring steelhelix.Negative pressure units are tested for DispersalOil Particulate (DOP) penetration on a regularbasis to ensure that the filtration remains withinspecification (99.997% efficient).Power Assisted RespiratorsA high degree of protection against dusts andfibres is provided through the use of power-assisted respirators which maintain a positivepressure within the facemask throughout thebreathing cycle. Each respirator comprises afull facemask with an integral blower, filter andbattery.WeightFacemask complete with blower and filter755 g, battery 745 g.Facemask The low-profile facemask produced in siliconerubber gives a panoramic field of view and thereverted edge seal provides an efficient sealingcontact with the face. It is retained by anadjustable five-point harness which allows thewearing of a standard industrial safety helmet.Blower The compact and lightweight blower has aradial fan driven by a DC motor connected bycoiled cable to a polarised bayonet plug. Theairflow produced is directed by a contouredgrille over the inside of the visor.Technical SpecificationNPU 500 NPU 1500 NPU 2000 NPU 3000 NPU 4000 NPU 6000-2 NPU 6000-3Width (mm) 400 890 900 1850 1200 1200 1850Depth (mm) 400 455 405 700 700 700 700Height (mm) 308 700 405 700 700 1000 1000Parts 1 1 2 2 2 2 2Weight (kg) 30 40 50 90 80 120 140Motors 1 1 1 2 2 1 1Motor Power (Watt) 1000 1000 1000 2000 2000 3000 3000Voltage (Volt) 110 110 110 110 110 220 220Frequency (Hertz) 50 50 50 50 50 50 50Current (Amp) 6 11 14 28 28 15 15Airflow Free Air (cfm) 700 2200 2400 4200 4800 8500 8500Airflow with Filters (cfm) 500 1750 1950 3000 3500 6000 5000Pre-Filter (mm) 296x296x47 372x372x98 372x372x98 596x596x98 596x596x98 596x894x98 596x894x98Intermediate Filter (mm) N/A N/A N/A 592x592x292 N/A 592x592x292 592x592x292HEPA Filter (mm) 305x305x150 381x381x292 381x381x292 610x610x292 610x610x292 610x914x292 610x914x292Outlet Spigot Diameter (mm) 150 300 300 300 400 450 450Inlet Spigot Diameter (mm) 200 300 300 300 400 450 450Decontamination units are available inself-contained mobile and modular formats.During asbestos removal operations, airextractors (NPUs) with integral HEPA filtersare used to create negative pressure withinthe enclosure thus preventing fibre release tothe external environment.Type H Vacuum cleaners are used forcleaning up asbestos and heavy metalcontaminants.Wet Strip Injection Systems are extremelyeffective in minimising fibre release duringasbestos stripping operations.FilterThe filter has a deep pleated internal structure, giving a large surface area which minimisesclogging and resistance to breathing.Other FeaturesWearers are able to decontaminate and showerafter work, whilst still wearing the respirator.Nickel cadmium rechargeable battery providesminimum of 10 hours’ operation.
