Who We Are

Contemporary Controls designs and manufactures the system building blocks for networking, integrating and controlling automation processes where performance and reliability are important. Our products are built upon open technologies such as ARCNET, BACnet®, Controller Area Network (CAN), Ethernet, Modbus®, Niagara Framework®, and Sedona ? typically found in the building, energy, and industrial automation industries. Two design teams, one in the US and one in China, cooperate with other design resources to develop proprietary products under the Contemporary Controls brand or the brand of our OEM customers.

Our customers are systems integrators, contractors, mechanical and controls OEMs seeking simple and reliable networking and control products from a dependable source. With headquarters based in the US, we have wholly-owned operations in the UK, Germany and China with self-manufacturing in the US and China. With over 45 years in business, four locations around the world serving the Americas, EMEA and APAC, and a reputation for service and technical support, Contemporary Controls is committed to making your automation projects successful.

What We Design, We Make

Contemporary Controls has two manufacturing locations, one in Downers Grove, Illinois and the other in Suzhou, PRC. Both operations are ISO9001:2015 registered and are under Underwriters Laboratories (UL) surveillance. In addition to self-manufacturing, Contemporary Controls sources complementary networking and control products for the convenience of our customers. The US operation has modern Panasonic multi-function, surface-mount technology (SMT) process lines that produce sophisticated, lead-free, high-density printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) that incorporate ball-grid-array (BGA) components. These PCBAs are then installed into their enclosures, tested and stored in their final packaging in an environmentally-controlled warehouse ready for worldwide shipment.

While the US operation is ideal for prototyping, and producing high-mix, low-volume and Made in USA products, the China operation with its sourcing partners are better suited for high-volume, low-mix production. In either location, intellectual property is protected.
