DIRECT FIRED DRYING SYSTEM - Mostly used for inorganic materials or materials with high moisture content. Such system can be designed in a parallel or counter-current flow configuration. In a parallel, or co-current, flow configuration, the hot gases and the product enter the dryer at the same end. The wet material comes into contact with the hot gas at its highest temperature, resulting in the rapid evaporation of surface moisture without overheating the product. In a counter-current configuration, the hot gas stream enters the kiln on the opposite end as the materials, and the dry product comes into contact with the gas at its lowest temperature.
