The Boa Boom captures andcontains the oil spill until it can be disposed of properly and concentrates the oil inthicker surface layers to improve recovery efforts. The Boa Boom design uses a cylindrical flotation collar with enough freeboard to pre-vent waves from splashing over the top. A continuous underwater skirt is welded tothe flotation collar to contain or deflect the floating oil. A heavy bottom ballast chainadds stability against wave and wind action, and a stainless steel top tension cable pro-vides extra strength to combat currents, shifting tides, rough seas, and towing forces.The Boa Boom0 can be permanentlyattached to a pier with the available harbor mooring system. The bulkheadriser assemblies allow the boom to adjust to tidal changes automatically.Anchors and marker bouys can also beused to safely maintain the position ofthe Boa Boom™ in high traffic harborareas. Available Towing Bridles allow vessels to sweep the oil into a concen-trated area for recovery by a skimmer. These widely used slide connec-tors are manufactured from 6016 T-6 marine grade aluminum for durability and extended service life. Theyprovide very quick and easy connections between boom sections and towing bridles.Bolted connectors are manufactures from 304 stainless steel components and are highly recommended forlong-term or permanent connections.FLOATATIONEthafoam - Extremely durable and bouyant, ethafoam floatation logs are the ideal choice for long termexposure to harsh environments. Choose ethafoam for frequent deployment applications.Styrofoam - This low cost solution features a very high bouyancy to weight ratio. These rigid floats are rec-ommended for permanent installations where continuous hydrocarbon contact will not occur. CURTAIN FABRICXR-5 is a high performance composite membrane that combines high tensile and tear strength withimproved flexibility both above and below the water line. Designed for long term, extended use systems,XR-5 has excellent UV and chemical resistant properties. This heavy material provides superior abrasionresistance for aggressive environments.XR-5B offers the same chemical resistant properties as XR-5, but is lighter weight for improved flexibilityand ease of deployment. It can be easily cleaned and re-used for multiple exposures.Polyurethane is a premium fabric designed for abrasion resistance and continuous in-water exposure. Withtwice the tensile strength of other fabrics, this material is ideal for permanent installations in challengingenvironments.PVC is a low cost solution that provides moderate chemical resistance and good tensile and tear strength.This material is available with either a nylon or polyester base fabric.TENSION MEMBERStainless Steel Aircraft Cable provides a strong, corrosion resistant tension member that will stand up tothe tough marine environment. Our standard 1/4” 7x19 type 304 Stainless Steel cable has a breakingstrength of 6,400 pounds. Optional 3/8” 7x19 type 304 Stainless Steel cable has a breaking strength of12,000 pounds. All tension member cables are available with vinyl coating.BALLASTHot Dipped Galvanized Steel Chain provides corrosion resistant ballast and tension along the bottom ofthe curtain.
