It is involved in SIEFs and consortia, and carries out Chemical Safety Assessments and prepares reports for companies. Workshop leaderChemical Safety Assessment and Report How to prepare for it and how to do itTuesday 29 September 2009 11:00 – 17:00REACH is aimed at the protection of human health and the environment by ensuring that chemicals are handled safely. Part of demonstrating safe handling and use is to consider exposure, hence the exposure assessment is an important part of the Chemical Safety Assessment (CSA) that needs to be carried out, and covers exposure to humans, workers as well as the environment. The results of the CSA need to be documented in a Chemical Safety Report (CSR). The format of the CSR is prescribed and input to elements can be obtained from the IUCLID file as part of your technical dossier. Our workshop will take you from the theory through the “prescription” in REACH to the guidance and implementation in practice. You will experience a number of models in use, and there will be practical exercises to aid your understanding during this workshop. At the end of the day you will have a full understanding of the mechanisms involved and practical illustrations of implementation. The programme starts at 11.00 am so that you may be able to travel in the morning. There will be a break for lunch and during the afternoon a tea & coffee break.Workshop contents:• The background through REACH: Origin and purpose of CSA / CSR - How do Exposure Scenarios fit in?PLUS Don’t miss the pre-conference workshop• Practical guidance framework: The elements of CSA /CSR – Overview - Elements in detail• Exposure assessments: Use - Intended Use - Operational Conditions (OC) - Risk Management Measures (RMM) - Sector of use (SU) - Process Categories (PROC) - Product/Article category (PC/AC) - Environmental Release Category (ERC)• Workplace / Consumer Exposure & Exposure Estimation (Tier 1 models)• Environmental Exposure & Modelling (EUSES as Tier 1 model)• CSA-CSR plug-in08:00 Registration and refreshments08:50 Introduction from the Chairs Frank Lee, CIBA (part of BASF), Switzerland, and Dr Mark Stalmans, PROCTER & GAMBLE, BelgiumMARKET ANALYSIS: TRENDS, DRIVERS AND INDUSTRY INITIATIVES09:10 Sustainability in household care - industry prospects in a cold economic climate • A global overview of the household care industry in light of the recession • Sustainability as the main growth driver • New product developments and case studies • Future prospect of the household care industry Speaker from EUROMONITOR, UK09:40 Voluntary industry activities towards sustainable production and consumption • History and background of AISE • AISE activities and role in forming a sustainable future for the cleaning products industry • Detailed overview of current industry activities • Overcoming bureaucratic barriers and working with the EU • Development of the cleaning products sector under and the Action Plan on Sustainable Production and Consumption Valerie Sejourne, Director - Communication Affairs, AISE, Belgium10:10 How NGOs are changing the European cleaning products market • Moulding consumer expectations • Arousing consumer fears • Editing consumer choice • Arbitrating differences between regulatory systems • How should your industry respond?
