We also carry $2 million occurrence, $2 million aggregate Pollution policy. Contractors carrying excess liability (commonly referred to as umbrella policies) are not routinely covered in an environmental mishap, such as contractor caused contamination. Leadership ? Heidi Farmer, President hfarmer@hoosierequipment.com Heidi is responsible for the overall leadership and direction of Hoosier Equipment Service. Heidi is particularly focused on growing existing client relationships and identifying other opportunities in the region. Heidi also assists in estimating and internal project management, including identifying and hiring subcontractors. She was certified in 2003 as an Aboveground Tank Inspector and is medically qualified and trained in health and safety with OSHA 29 CFR1910.120 to enter hazardous waste sites. Heidi joined her family’s business in 2002 after working at Simon Property Group post graduation. In December of 2005, Heidi became part owner of Hoosier Equipment Service. She earned her BS in Finance & Economics from Barry University in Miami, FL. While attending Barry, Heidi earned a 4 year scholarship as a member of the women’s basketball team. _______________________________________________________________ Ralph Farmer, Vice President & Corporate Secretary rfarmer@hoosierequipment.com As Vice President and part owner, Ralph is also responsible for the overall leadership and direction of Hoosier Equipment Service. Many reputable firms in the region view Ralph as a local expert in the area of underground and aboveground fuel storage tanks. Ralph has managed thousands of fuel system related projects along with general remediation projects. Over the course of his career, Ralph has acquired many hours of specialized training in areas such as tank installation and removal, confined entry environments, “Petro-Tite” tank testing and Hazardous Materials training. In addition, he is medically qualified and trained in health and safety with OSHA 29 CFR1910.120 to enter hazardous waste sites. Prior to becoming an owner of Hoosier Equipment Service in 1978, Ralph received his education at Hanover College in Madison, IN and IU in Bloomington, IN. _______________________________________________________________ Charles (“Charlie”) D. Farmer, Vice President of Operations As Vice President of operations, Charlie has led Hoosier Equipment’s field activities and project estimating since joining his brothers, Ralph and Jef, in 1988. Prior to Hoosier, Charlie was General Superintendent over Land Improvement at Indianapolis Parks Department. Charlie has managed a wide array of projects for Hoosier Equipment Service… From challenging tank projects to the removal and disposal of tens of thousands of cubic yards of impacted material, Charlie is experienced in every aspect of environmental construction. Charlie earned his BS from Indiana State University and furthered his education at North Carolina State University. Charlie has acquired many hours of specialized training in areas such as tank installation and removal, confined entry environments, “Petro-Tite” tank testing and Hazardous Materials training. _______________________________________________________________ Jef Farmer, Vice President As Vice President and former President, Jef is responsible for market research and identifying market trends. Jef assists in the field, as needed, and holds a Class A CDL which allows him to help out with the logistics of getting equipment to and from jobsites. Prior to purchasing Hoosier Equipment Service in 1978, Jef owned a couple “mom and pops” gas stations in the Central Indiana area. He understands the complex issues facing today’s retail gas station owners. Jef has personal experience in redeveloping two brownfield sites located in Indianapolis, IN and Dallas, Texas. Jef received his education at Vincennes University and Murray State in Murray, KY. Remediation Project Examples Project: Lead Impacted Soil Removal/Building Demolition (Owner Confidential) Date: Fall-Winter 2003 - 2004 Client: Clayton Group Services Contact: Bob Reynolds (317) 570-4582 Location: Indianapolis, IN Cost: $231,000.00 Scope: This project involved the excavation of approximately 7,700 tons of lead impacted soils. There was also an area beneath a back portion of the building in which contamination extended underneath the building. As Hoosier Equipment Service is a licensed demolition contractor, we were able to demolish a portion of the building and access the remaining impacted soils. Project: Goshen Voluntary Remediation Project Date: 12/2005 Client: PSARA Technologies Contact: Rich Stuck (513) 791-4418 Location: Goshen, IN Cost: $500,000.00 Scope: This project involved shoring to protect a boiler house for the safe removal of two (2) – 20,000 gallon heating oil tanks and approximately 2,000 tons of impacted soil. Project: PCB Excavation, Placement of Geogrid Fabric BX 1100 and Stone Date: 01/2000 Client: ARCADIS G&M Contact: Rob Walker (317) 231-6500 Location: Indianapolis, IN Cost: $21,167.00 Scope: This project involved remedial activities for soil contaminated areas outside a plant. Placement of 608 square feet of Geogrid Fabric BX 1100 and 702 tons of stone were required in four locations. An additional area of 270 square feet of PCB soil contamination required excavation and backfill with 9 tons of stone. Variations in temperature, snow and rain presented the crew with freezing and thawing of the ground. This made the ground soft and challenging to work with. All waste from the project was stored on site under the direction of the client in an approved manner. Project: Pit Removal Date: 09/2000 Client: Keramida Environmental, Inc. Location: Markland Mall/ Simon Property Group Kokomo, Indiana Cost: $43,773.32 Scope: This project involved the removal of a service pit, and associated contamination. Over 500 cubic yards of contaminated soil and concrete were excavated and disposed of from this site. The area was back filled with clean soil and covered with new concrete. All waste was transported to an approved special waste facility and disposed of properly. Project: Town of English Environmental Remediation and Demolition Project Date: Fall-Winter/ 1998-1999 Client: American Environmental Corporation Contacts: Fred Nichols Location: English, IN Cost: $741,625 Scope: This project involved the demolition of a gas station and bulk plant storage facility. Hoosier Equipment Service, Inc. also removed and disposed of multiple USTs & ASTs. The project also included excavation and disposal of approximately 8,700 cubic yards of contaminated soil. Project: Allied Signal Contaminated Soil Excavation and Removal Date: 09/1997 Client: Allied Signal Contact: Jay Vora Location: Indianapolis, IN Cost: $190,000.00 Scope: Hoosier Equipment Service, Inc. excavated, sorted and stockpiled 19,000 cubic yards of soil contaminated with diesel fuel, jet fuel and other petroleum products. The soil was stockpiled onsite according to degree of contamination. Each stockpile was covered with plastic, awaiting further sampling and handling for disposal. Project: Marathon Service Station, Tank Sump Remedial Action Date: 06/2000 Client: Marathon Oil Company Location: 116th Street & Range Line Road, Carmel, Indiana 46280 Cost: $20,311.15 Scope: This project involved three 10,000gallon underground gasoline fuel tanks and associated utilities. Due to a leak in the system, pressure tests were performed at various points to determine the location of the release. With the leak located at a “flex joint” repairs were made to the system. After the system repairs were made, pressure tests indicated there were no further leaks.
