EGYPT and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) Vattenfall Power Consultant A full Environmental and Social Impact Assessment study (ESIA) for a submarine HVDC link of 3000 MW capacity between Egypt and KSA in compliance with the permitting procedures in both countries, to optimize the peak capacity in the respective countries, thereby eliminating the demand to install new generation capacity in each country in order to meet peak load demand. ? Sitting Consideration in Selecting Wind Farms EGYPT Science and Technology Development Fund ”STDF” The project aims at determining the specific sites in Egypt that have suitable characteristics to construct a successful wind farm on. The innovation lies in the environmental impact scopes (EIS) that will be made to those specific sites. The studies at each site will include: wind speed at different altitudes, proximity to the national grid, noise assessment, biological resources in the area, nature of the land, and accessibility of the site. ? Research on Climate Protection Projects EGYPT Sofia Research Institute, University of Applied Sciences in Darmstadt Developing instruments to improve the market access of German enterprises in terms of environmental and climate protection projects in developing and newly industrializing countries. ? Measurement of Air Quality Parameters in Three Gas-Refueling Stations EGYPT Arabia Gaz Measured various relevant air parameters, including: sulphur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, nitrogen monoxide and dioxide, carbon monoxide, inhaled dust and suspended dust, in addition to the noise levels, for the purpose of updating client’s environmental records. ? Improving the Licensing Framework for Investment in Oil and Gas in Yemen YEMEN IHS/Ministry of Oil and Minerals (MOM) The project aimed at improving the licensing framework for investment in oil and gas in Yemen. The project activities included review of the current legal and contractual framework for private-sector investment in the oil sector, notably all existing PSAs. Based on the review analysis, specific legal recommendations and detailed drafting proposals for a model PSA were proposed to MOM. 11 ? Design and Manufacture of: 500 KN Digital Compression/Flexure Testing Machine EGYPT Nile Company for Architectural Supplies (tile manufacturing company) Green Experts have designed a High Tech digital hydraulic testing machine with motorized hydraulic system to satisfy the Egyptian Testing Standard terms and conditions. The machine was designed at moderate capacity of 500 KN that would suit testing of all types and sizes of standardized samples of tiles, small concrete cubes, rocks, marble and stones. The machine design encountered a special attachment for flexure test. The single machine does the job of two separate machines that saves a lot of capital investment. The machine was locally manufactured in Egypt. ? Manufacture of Abrasion Testing Machine EGYPT Nile Company for Architectural Supplies (tile manufacturing company) As a part of the QC procedures that determine the quality of architectural products, the abrasion test is internationally applied test for tiles to define tile characteristics of resisting the rubbing action of the moving feet and/or articles. The machine can test two separate samples in one time saving a lot of testing cost and time. With the long experience of Green experts in manufacturing equipment & machinery in the past, the machine was locally manufactured in Egypt. ? Monitoring Indoor Quality Parameters EGYPT Nahdet Misr Factory Monitored indoor air quality parameters and compared them with the permissible legal environmental standards. The parameters included: noise levels, light intensities, heat intensities, emissions, lead from chimneys, carbon dioxide and oxygen content. ? Landscape Design, Cairo International Airport EGYPT Ministry of Aviation/Cairo Airport Authority Conceptual and detailed design for the landscaping of Cairo International Airport, including exterior and interior spaces. The design is a reflection of the combination of Egyptian heritage and modern, functional amenities, and is part of the overall efforts to develop and upgrade the airport that is a major air transport hub for Africa and the Middle East. The project includes the landscape designs of all spaces between the runways and other tarmac strips, the interior public spaces of the four halls of Terminal 1, as well as Terminals 2 and 3. Furthermore, the project includes other airport buildings, such as storage facilities/areas, office buildings, hangars, and service buildings. ? The project falls within the European Union-supported TEMPUS programme, in cooperation with Cairo University's Faculty of Engineering and the Ecole des Mines, Nancy, France. 23 ? The socio-economic impact study and the legal assessment of the Assiut barrage construction project are performed. ? RO Plant Geotechnical Study EGYPT Private Client Resistivity testing for groundwater depth and quality assessment for a desalination RO plant in Hurghada city. The assessment included groundwater depths up to 150 m for feeding the RO plant. The report also included the soil lithology for finding adequate structural and lithological water traps. ? Geological Assessment of Natural Hazards Features, Al-Gharbaniyaat Train Station Railway Collapse EGYPT Hamza Associates Structural delineation and karst features (sinkholes) hazard assessment. The study included geological hazard assessment based on resistivity and GPR testing – ground penetration radar – in order to delineate areas of collapsable character. ? Design of Solar-Powered Transport Airship ITALY Private Client An innovative design for a means of transportation that relies on solar energy. Causes of Adverse Environmental Effects on Plant and Human Health in Al-Atf EGYPT Hamza Land A study, including soil and water analyses, on the causes of the negative environmental conditions in an agricultural and suburban residential area to find out the cause of the damage, attributable to air pollution from brick kilns. 24 ?
