CONTAZARA was founded in 1984 with the intention of revolutionizing the basic concept of measuring and billing water consumption and radically changing it to that of effective and efficient water management. Therefore, it is a company with many years of experience in technologically innovative products.

Throughout its history, CONTAZARA has been improving its range of smart water meters and providing communication capabilities (connectivity), passing through electronic meters based on the speed of the fluid or later on the positive displacement of a chamber of previously known volume.

At the same time, and because in the first years the reading of the water meters

intelligent devices required the creation of a reading route, it was equipped with the first communication capacity via telephone cable with a portable terminal and software with the communication protocol at that time called CZBUS, in order to obtain two fundamental benefits.

Already in this 21st century with the development of communication skills, CONTAZARA

developed the first remote communication equipment, which was called remote meter reading. First there was GSM technology and later within 2G, GPRS that remains in force to this day due to the excellent improvement that has resulted from stopping physically going to read with a portable terminal house to house every two months. It was in 2010 when it was decided to rethink the strategy and incorporate remote reading capacity, instead of an external GSM/GPRS device, based on radio frequency in the free 868 MHz band in order to cover market needs and continue growing economically. Starting in 2018, CONTAZARA is committed to a great revolution in water management such as NB IoT (Narrow Band Internet of Things) technology. CONTAZARA has been the pioneer in significantly researching, developing, piloting, validating and putting on the market smart water meters with Narrow Band IoT communication technology.

With respect to its management, the organization has been recognized on numerous occasions with international certifications of standards of recognized prestige worldwide in the areas of quality, environment, eco-design, health and safety, information security, digitalization or metrology with organizations such as AENOR and LNE, being the first company to obtain some certificates such as ISO 9004 Sustained Success Management or the Measurement Instruments Directive Module H1 or UNE 0060 Digitalization. It has also been recognized in business excellence awards in the management such as the Business Excellence Award in Aragon in 2004, the recognition of finalist in the Ibero-American Quality Award in 2005, the highest national award in 2006-2007 such as the Prince Felipe Award for Business Excellence in the Industrial Quality modality and the National Award for Connected Industry 4.0 in the industrial SME category. The company also has

of a large Testing and Calibration Laboratory also recognized through ENAC Accreditation.
