This prevents flow reversal, whicheliminates water hammer and system surges associated withvalve closure. Fully automatic, spring-loaded and double-guided,the valve opens as the pump starts, and closes just prior to flowreversal upon pump outage. With a standard cast iron body, bronzeseat, disc and bushing, and a stainless steel spring, all internal partsof the Globe Style Check Valve are field replaceable for ease ofmaintenance. In addition, the Globe Style Check Valve is designedso that a butterfly valve may be used downstream without the useof a space flange or spool piece. In addition,flow curves are based onthe flow of clean water atan ambient temperature.ValveReplacementExisting swing checkvalves can easily bereplaced with a CrispinGlobe Style Check Valve.The replacement involvesthe addition of a spoolpiece to be bolted to thereplacement valve. Theentire assembly can beprovided to conform tothe existing valve’s face-to-face dimension.Line PlacementPreferred piping standards recommend placing check valves 5 to10 pipe diameters fromany turbulence producingdevices (i.e. pumps,elbow, etc.). This installation recom-mendation should be followed to preventincreased valve wear orpossible damage.The Globe Style CheckValve is designed so that abutterfly valve may beused downstream withoutthe use of a space flangeor spool piece. Special Maintenance Note:The Globe Style Silent Check Valve should never be inspected by onlyremoving the valve inlet flange piping. If this is done, seat damage tothe valve or personal injury to the inspector may occur. If the valvemust be serviced, it should be isolated and the line pressure relievedon both sides of the valve.
