DENSOPLAST - PetrolatumTapes- Brochure

Product InformationSpecial Advantages• conformable• permanently plastic• reliable corrosion preventionDENSOPLAST®-TapeCold applied petrolatum tapeaccording to DIN 30672 and EN12068 (stress-class A-30) for thecorrosion protective coating ofburied or immersed pipes, pipeline installations or othermetal installations withoperating temperatures up to30°C. DIN-DVGW Reg.-No.NG-5180AO0703. Description DENSOPLAST Tape contains achemical fibre fleece which iscoated and impregnated with acorrosion protecting petrolatummastic. To prevent the mastic frombeing washed out by rising andfalling ground water the exteriorside of the tape is covered with apolypropylene film. Thepermanently plastic petrolatumcompound completely coversmetal surfaces and thereforereliably protects them againstcorrosion. Due to its conformabilityDENSOPLAST Tape is particularlysuitable for coating of irregularlyshaped objects. The coating fromDENSOPLAST tape isimpermeable to water vapour andoxygen. A three layer wrapping fromDENSOPLAST Tape complies withstress class A-30 according toDIN 36072 and DIN EN 12068 DIN-DVGW-Reg.-No.NG-5180AO0703 UseCorrosion prevention of• pipes• pipeline installations (flanges,T-pieces, valves, fittings etc.)• tensioning elements inanchorage fixture systems Properties DENSOPLAST-TapeProperty Unit Typical Value StandardThickness mm app. 1,1 -Carrier - polypropylene / polyester fibre fleece -Cover film - polypropylene -Thickness cover film µm 40 -Saponification valuepetrolatum compoundmg KOH / g < 10 DIN EN 12068 DENSO GmbHP.O.Box 150120 • 51344 Leverkusen • Germanytel: +49-(0)214-2602-0 • fax: +49-(0)214-2602-318www.denso.de • info@denso.deOur l iterature, data sheets and recommendationsrepresent our best knowledge at the time ofprinting but are in no way legally binding on us.Values and properties shown in diagrams andtables aretypical properties, which are not subject to anyguarantee. Cleaning of pipe surface For a proper application of acorrosion protective coatingthorough cleaning and drying arenecessary. Rust, dirt, weld splatterhave to be removed. Mechanicalcleaning could be done by wirebrush. Oil, grease and couplingagent from ultrasonic testing haveto be removed with suitablesolvent, e.g. white spirit. Coating Wrap DENSOPLAST Tape withcover film on the exterior side withat least 50% overlap spirallyaround the pipe. Firmly and evenlysmooth tape in the overlaps byhand. The existing factory coatingalso has to be covered by at leastone tape width. Carry out secondwrapping with 10 mm overlap. In case of irregularly shapedobjects, tape is applied as pre-cutstrips. Testing The finished coating has to betested for freedom from pores by ahigh voltage holiday detector. Test voltage: 5 kV + 5kV/mmcoating thickness.
